Unique "Date Potential" Events/Locales for this weekend -- Suggestions

I am uncertain if my search ability is utterly lacking at the moment (a distinct possibility since I am currntly stricken with a cold), or if things have changed in SL.

I used to be able to search/scan events in world and the main web listing, and generally find interesting places to visit. What I found this morning were some rather sterile environments, events for stores, FREE FREE FREE XYZ, and some downright ruses (my favourite had to be the Goth "nightclub" that was really a brothel on a beach).

When I have time later today I will revisit the search, but wished to make an inquiry here from you more social people in the know for:

Social and potential romantic locales and events (specifically for Saturday evening, but not absolutely necessary) that are perhaps a little unique or different. Live music would be nice or a DJ. Jazz, alternative/goth perhaps.

Someplace that is visually appealing would be nice, and need not mimic RL.

Failing a social venue, exploring something unusual and creative (perhaps also romantic) would be most excellent.

Are there any suggestions?

I will revisit some recent posts to the forum regarding this subject and see if any suggestions are still valid (places seem to come and go more quickly in SL these days).

Thank you for your time.

you can search in categories, or/and on keywords.. so combine the two, there should be matching results, i bet. :)

Dinner for two at Subdue Erotic Restaurant http://slurl.com/secondlife/Yedboro/244/227/36. Dinner served on Human platter or you can serve the food off you or off your date. Go to the reservation wall and choose a Human Platter or go to the opposite wall and get your sushi suit. Once you make reservations a DJ can be provided. We have Live musicians on Sundays at 6PM SL time.

say Moo: I will explore regular search avenues again, thank you. My last foray into this involved several hours of searching to find only a handful of places of merit. Hopefully the search has improved somewhat and I'll not find myself so often in "mall hell".

Lias Leandros: Now that looks different and interesting. Thank you!

Miss Lindal: I do indeed, and somehow she finds the most spectacular places to explore. We were hoping, after a couple years in SL, to begin exploring some more social venues. I feel a little out of my element (read, I am socially awkward).

Between further suggestions and more searching, hopefully more will avail itself. Thank you.

What I have found via searches of places and events (some honed searches, some general searches)

- Many "events" leading to sex bed sellers
- Many "events" leading to tacky "bars"
- Prize events (best in XYZ)
- The proliferation of the word "cum"
- Numerous malls
- sex and nudity galore
- beaches, beaches and more beaches
- dancers/escorts
- tacky hangouts
- more typos than my brain could cope with
- OMG SO MANY WORDS IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT DEFINITELY ATTRACTS EVERYONE, STANDS OUT AND MAKES THE ADVERTISEMENT SO MUCH EASIER TO READ
- Clubs/Events/Locales where one is bombarded with games, trivia boards, contest boards etc.

I will try my hand at more searches later. I need to scrub my brain out with a brillo pad.

Am about to pop by the first do in a gown I haven't had a chance to wear - won't likely stay long as I feel a bit green at the gills. :/ Aw I just noticed it's casual wear...oh well. Lol I can always change if it matters.

For obvious reasons (and perhaps less obvious ones - enquire in person) I have always loved the Wales sim. Malia has a recent post about it in her blog at

http://maliawriter.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-08-14T21%3A43%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=1

although I would recommend you scope it out yourself if your time 'a deux' is likely to be limited.

Pep (I have presumed you don't mind the referral, Malia? ;) )

And here I was, thinking events had been dead for about 3 years already. Over abuse by all kinds of clubs, each doing its own "Best in pink" variation did that, to be honest.
Oh, and shops having a "Great opening" event every week.
"Galleries" doing events in the middle of laggy malls is another one.

If you're looking for something to do, then searching groups would probably be the best start. Maybe join up on some multi-player game like Tiny Empires to see what kind of people you run into there, and see if you find similar minded people to hook up with.
