If my store has been taking over 1000 lindens every day for over two years, what value would that equate to if I want to sell up?
Not including stock etc.
Maybe 200,000L for that alone or is that too much.

Not including stock etc. Your not selling the stock? The value of the business is the stock. |

I assume you mean that the stock will be sold to the buyer seperately - otherwise there is no business to sell.
A good price for it would be the highest you can get for it. Personally, I wouldn't pay 200,000L + stock for a business that only took 1000L a day. It would take 200 days to recover the business cost, plus goodness knows how long to recover the cost of the stock, plus there would be tier to pay each month, so the time needed to recover the outlay would be even longer, and who knows what would happen to the sales in that length of time. It doesn't sound anywhere near a reasonable deal to me. _____________________

I think you sell it for how much it makes in a year, or year and a half, maybe even two years. You probably need proof of that income.

That's RL, Bree, where a fair degree of stability can be expected. SL isn't like that because things can change radically.

Not including stock etc. Maybe 200,000L for that alone or is that too much. You've left things pretty vague in your post. I'm not clear on what you'd be selling: the name of the store, the building or the land it's built on. As has previously been pointed out, it seems a bit odd not to include the stock, as that more or less *is* the business. It's also not clear how much it actually makes. It might take L$1000, but what does it cost? What's the tier or rent? Do you spend on advertising? Pay for models or camping? _____________________

I typically value SL companies based on 3 x monthly sales (last 3 months not best 3 months!) So if your sales are averaging around a 1000 L a day for the last 3 months...90k L (330 USD) is about the max i would consider. Then there is the added "Goodwill" element....is it a known brand name? (I doubt it based on those sales!)
Is it something unique? Is it in a niche sector? How big is your customer Group? Does the Group come with the Business? That can help bump up the price a bit. If it is skins, hair, boots, mainstream female fashion...forget it...no additional goodwill on top of that 90k valuation unless you're a ETD, Naughty Designs. Calla Designs etc etc Obviously the quality of your products needs to be inspected. Then there is the question of land....land that i might not want or need. That can be a bit of a drawback too if you're selling as a total package. You might be more successful in selling them spearately. i.e business & land |
