Does anyone have a clue? I frequently have connection issues because I'm on wireless...no other options where I live. I've learned to live with that, and work around it. However, last night, people I know that have fantastic connections couldn't rez textures, couldn't rez items, couldn't TP. I've heard many people complaining for the past two weeks about the lag being worse than usual. Does anyone know what's going on? Was there something posted somewhere that I missed? Or does LL really just expect us to live like this? And PLEASE, can we not have a ton of posts saying "I run fine"? I know *many* people are running fine....but many more are not.

Ridiculous rez times. I was doing the gridwide treasure hunt and had to give up. I like to hang around and see what those shops have to offer, rather than just grabbing the globe and heading for the next place. (Lots of very interesting shops on that list)
Every last place I went to took an unacceptable amount of time to rez. Not just last night, but the night before last, too. I finally gave up.
No problem with TP or inventory.

A couple of days ago I downloaded a release candidate client and started using that. Late last night (about 8pm ST), after yet another crash, I tried to restart and the system told me I had to download a new version. So I did, and got in. A little later, after another crash, I was told again that I would have to download a new version, so I did. Then I still couldn't log on; I needed to download a new version again. I also could not log on using the existing regular release.
I went to the download page and downloaded a regular release and was able to log on. The rez and lag problems were no different than normal, but that repeated "required download" was strange.

I've found that rez times seem to be getting slower for objects and avatars whenever I TP to a fresh location. However, once there and everything rezzed, SL seems more stable and less laggy.

I love how people use the RC viewer that is a "RELEASE CANDIDATE" i.e. not the production viewer and meant for testing. Then complain when there's a glitch. Yeah last night's sucked but just use the main viewer. This is especially true when LL is actually doing the rare act of giving updated status reports to let you know and the people who are complaining aren't even apparently reading them.

LLnet 30 Days Ahead of Schedule
12-13-2008 03:12
A lot of what we may be experiencing is LL's slow ass VPN system which is currently being phased out. LL Net is only a week or 2 a way and i hope we see a major improvement. I am sure getting rid of VPN system will speed things up on the grid and less failed teleports. They could be dorking with the network as we speak getting ready for the big switch Anyway this was posted on the blog From: someone LLnet 30 Days Ahead of Schedule LLnet, our private fiber optic ring, is a good 30 days ahead of schedule. This network, which will privately interconnect our datacenters, will allow us to move away from VPN reliance. “LLnet” fiber facilities have been delivered into our 3 data centers, and are currently in the configuration and testing phase with the routing infrastructure. This work should be concluded by the end of this week, and we will then start full testing in a production environment. We want to move as quickly as possible, but also do not want to destabilize the grid for the sake of speed, so we will take most of December to finish production testing, and begin cutover of live traffic in late December or early January. We have thousands of machines across the data centers, so the cutover process is expected to take about 60 days, but we have been very good (so far) at beating our projected dates.

I've witnessed various issues lately. There has been an issue with vendors whereby on one sim the profit split wasn't working but on another it was. Prior to this I had issues uploading photos with messages that the server was too busy. There were issues on one sim where people couldn't edit their own objects and you had to delete objects twice before they'd disappear.
I've contacted support on some of the above issues, the editing objects issue in particular and they then noticed there was a problem. As much as we'd all like to think support will know about all problems, they simply cannot and need our assistance to report issues when we uncover them.
