Hi ... I was working on a 77 prim object, and when I took it back it never showed up in my inventory. I have cleared my cache, relogged etc ... and short of dropping a ticket on LL, does anyone have a suggestion? Parts of that thing were expensive, and other parts I don't want to have to sit and build again.

Did you check your trash in case you accidently deleted it rather then took it?
Sometimes a complete removal and reinstall of SL including all support libraries will get content back. Check out the FAQ on Inventory recovery steps https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417 _____________________

the last time i lost a folder in my inventory
a linden told me they would not go into a backup and search for just "my" items in the last 4 years ive lost over 10,000 items many i payed for. sometimes if you ask the creator you can get another copy most times you will get an attitude. its the way SL is designed to work we cant make our own backups so the best way is to take copys as you work i tried storing items in objects in world that dosent work after a wile you will get messages that item dosent exist in database. the best way is to get a bot and make xml copys but its a real pain. _____________________

the use of tools to copy content from inworld to your computer in ways the regular client doesn't allow is polemic since it will also allow the copying of stuff you don't have authorization to copy, so becarefull with that, might get into serious trouble :/
on a side note, depending on the mood of SL, I often get more than 10K itens missing in my inventory acording to that counter on the op of the window, in rare days the count goes closer to whatever the real value is (I've seen it go past 30k a few times, but from a few months on, it usually has been under 25k, often close or under 20k, severalt iems I've looked for an iten and was unable to find it, doesn't seem to always be the same items that go missing, but I'm not sure they all come back fromt ime to time. Clearing cache somtimes helps somtiems makes it worth, and I think the amount of missing itens varies from login to login |

Here's a few things to consider when you look for the missing object..which probably is in your inventory, it's just hiding somewhere.
Was the object linked..if so try and think what the last item linked was, because that's what the linked object will be called. OK so that's not so easy if you just dragged across a load of prims and 'linked', but consider the names of some of the individual objects and look for those. Similarly if the object wasn't linked but just highlighted as a group of unlinked items and 'taken', then the last item highlighted will give the taken object it's name. If you're looking for 'object' also look for 'block' Sometimes I find taken items go to some pretty weird places in my inventory, but there's usually a good reason. I had a building of several hundred prims go to a file I had for 'outdoor landscaping - marine plants', why..because along with the building I had unwittingly included a nearby 'kelp' in the link. So if this object includes specific items - such as plants - along with basic prims it might send the object to a place related to those items. I now always keep my inventory open when 'taking' and scroll up and down till I see the taken object highlighted. It's a real pain when you lose them but I'd be willing to bet it's still in there somewhere hiding in a less than obvious place under an alias ..good luck !!Perre.. ![]() |

in inventory go to the recent items tab. Sometimes you may need to goto the file/show-filters menu in the inventory window. At the bottom of the filters popup hit up on the "Days Ago" wheel once or twice. And give it a minute to sort thru your inventory. Pay close attention to anything that sounds like it might have been related to what you were working on. Also take special note of anything with a little jenga-puzzle as an icon. That is what it does when you "take" multiple objects at once. Good luck.

I don't think she was copying anything, I think she was working on a primmy object and SL reliably ate it. _____________________
