Anyone else having Voice problems?

All my settings are as usual and I've done a hardware test on my computer to check my mic and headphones are working Ok, which they are, but I just can't seem to get voice to work properly in SL at the moment. It shows as being active - white dot above the head, push to talk button active etc - but when I speak there are no green sound waves. On a few different tries the sound waves have shown...but no sound for the other person to hear, and I can't hear them either. Is anyone else having this problem?

Any solutions anyone?

Unfortuantly there are about a dozen places the mic can get messed up and they may or may not be there depending on hardware, drivers, control panels etc you have installed.

Some common things to look for, make sure you are using microphone and NOT Line In. Go into Windows sound control panel an make sure it is not muted. Also, look for any Advanced tabs and or buttons and find a Mic Boost or +dB setting; enable that.

{Generic Windoze drivers for this can be found by right-clicking the speaker icon on your task bar, it should be next to your clock at the bottom right. Then click "Adjust Audio Properties." Then look for either "Audio" tab or "Voice" tab; either will work, you may have one or the other and most likely both. In the "recording" area, make sre the sound sard is listed in the drop down box and not on a "line in" setting. Click the "Volume" button. Make sure Microphone is selected. Click the Advanced button. There should be a place to check "Mic Boost" or something similar.}

The bad news, this can be different on your machine. This can be duplicated by going through the hardware under the control panel. This can be "hijacked" so to speak by your sound card's driver/control panel, but hopefully in the latter case the icon at the bottom will open that control panel instead of the generic. Good luck. I never got it working right for me, at least not how I want it, so I still use Ventrillo. ^.^

I think sometimes the voice servers are just plain stuttery. Happened to me for a while yesterday. They also are sometimes lagged.
