Curious Visitor

My sim has been the unlucky recipient of griefer attacks the past 2 days and so we are on heighten security.

I am using the Emerald Viewer that has a built in radar interface.

I also use EmDash and the name pops there.

Our security orbs show no entry at all by anyone at the times listed by Emerald and EmDash.

This afternoon we have had multiple sim entries by an avatar who lands and within 20 or 30 seconds leaves.

A search in ALL for name or key shows no results.

The entry times are intermittent. Sometimes entry/departure is after 5 minutes, 13 minutes, 20 minutes, 39 minutes, etc. Nothing that would possibly be a "set time".

Anyone else had experiences with this sort of thing?

What is ??? doing to grief you besides showing up for 20-30 seconds? Sounds like a bot.

There is nothing for this key in llRequestAgentData. I vote for a sensor bug.

Whomever or whatever is landing isn't actually griefing us.

As I said we had been the past 2 days so our security is high.

I consider this questionable activity at the very least.

I find it odd our land security does not pick up on it, but emDash and Emerald does.

If I were to guess.. I would say someone has some sort of stealth equipment they are using and checking to see if we are present on the sim. Sees that we are there and poofs. Hoping to land when we are not there.

Well, I haven't had this sort of reading before, ever.

Just started at 12:57 PM LST.

Last access/departure was at 3:51 PM LST.

There have been 11 entry/departures.

No set time between them. anywhere from 3 mintues to 31 minutes apart.

I know I am a bit paranoid at the present time *grin* BUT, it has not ever happened before. The timing for a bug and these griefer attacks is too close to be coincidental.

I tp'd to the questionable visitor. Only saw a wisp. Highlighting just shows a mouseover of "person".

These aren't griefer attacks. It's just trespassing. Attacks are when you are attacked, caged, orbitted, pushed or they leave things all over your land etc.

I think you are reading into the motives. There is no human arriving and leaving. It's someone's bot gone bonkers.

I know what griefing is Raymond. I lost 1000's of $L in stock the past 2 days from griefing.

Hence my paranoia when something unexplained starts happening.

As I said this "thing/person" isn't griefing me, just causing convern over why, who, what it is.

And if it is a BOT why is it showing up as a wisp?

The whisp is Ruthcloud. Meaning the avatar never fully rezzed. Most bot running software gives avatar rezzing a low priority so sometimes they'll never deruth and continue to stay in cloud form perpetually. (^_^)y

I am working (like always creating) and noticed that it happened most often when I did a texture upload.

SO I sat and selected textures to upload.

Each and every time this phantom showed up at the edge of my sim.

I've seen the (???) (???) before.
When I have, the avatar is usually less than a day old and the name hasn't propagated out to all the asset/avatar servers.

Of course this doesn't mean they are necessarily innocent...

You failed to mention this in any of your previous posts, hence I was more confused that usual.

At least I was correct in that it was not a human TPing in.

Ah... so it was the Back End Lag Monster's baby trying to find nummy uploads to eat! That explains everything!

So your textures are being copybotted every time you upload one? Is that your conclusion?

I've seen AVs behave like this and I've heard that LL have bots that TP around for testing/performance monitoring purposes. I've seen a couple that had names like "Performance Tester5", not exactly that but something similar. I remember seeing them 2 or 3 times at welcome areas, popping in for 30 seconds or so, then vanishing and coming back a few minutes later.

"performance1 Tester", I think, and so on.
