Help please

I joined a new group today, but now have this message constantly flashing on screen

How do I get rid of it??

Sounds like someone is spammin the group chat. Open up the history and see if the group's IM tab shows up and click the tab to make the window visible. If the spam is there just exit out of it and you won't see it anymore for the time being. You could also make a reply in the chat to stop spamming but chances are that someone also saw it.

If you can, maybe send a message to the group owner with a log of the spam and ask them to take action.

If its in your open chat... then it might be an object spammer. Did you accept any unsolicited "wear me" objects from this group or anybody?

If you clicked an object to join the group, it's spamming you (I think). Mute the object and inform the group owner.

Actually, now that I think of it...If you're still at the LeLook sim, and there are a lot of people around, you're seeing OTHER people trying to join the group.

If you've left the sim and are still seeing that come up, just sign off/on.

Can't believe I didn't think of that...

Thanx I went back to the scene of the crime and muted the object and it has stopped the spamming.

Naturally that was the first thing I did and it didn't work, hence me posting the help request.

Sometimes people don't realize it can be that easy, so that's generally my first line of "fixes". Once that's been confirmed, I move on from there.

HoneyBear, I'm one person who isn't much of a group joiner and who hasn't been spammed by objects--so I might not have thought of signing off and on, had this happened to me.

And I bet there are other readers who might not be experienced with these things, either. So your post might turn out to be very useful.

ummmm....did you actually click on the link in chat and join?? Until you do that, I don't believe you are a member yet.

In my own experience, I've found that many of the problems within SL (groups not loading, TP issues, etc) can usually be solved with a relog, and occasionally, a full computer reboot.
