Ok....I have updated the newest mandatory download, which on my computer takes a LONG time. It worked fine last night. Today, I try to access it, and lo and behold, it tells me I have to download the SAME version again to use it. RINSE, REPEAT. I mean, come on...NOW what am I suppose to do, re-download it everytime I want to go in world? I use to get on SL daily...now, because of all the SL issues, it's only been once a week or so, now that seems to even be a problem. Any suggestions?

Um, I do. Not sure what kind of answer that is...but it is really frustrating to think I gotta redownload to get on SL.

SL has been down almost all day. Downloading new clients is a pain for sure, but its small in the overall list of issues LL has lately.

You ask for suggestions? Run away... far away ;)

Well, first of all, if the claims of an as yet unnamed "major Internet carrier" are to be believed, a lot of the problems of the past week should be solved as of about an hour ago. Apparently, a faulty router in the carrier's facility had been screwing up traffic for a lot of services, including SL. http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/05/logins-disabled-until-further-notice/

As for the download, how about letting it do its thing this one time, and then see if it prompts you again afterwards? I had the same thing happen after I'd installed the latest viewer by hand. I went to log in, and it prompted me to do an auto-update, even though I was already up to date. Stuff like that just happens sometimes. After the one-time auto-update it was fine.

Well, I already DID download the lastest version last night. But, I have decided finally to uninstall everything SL related, and just reinstall it again...This is the third time since I have been IN SL that I have had to do that. Hope it "takes" this time. It is always fine until I have to update again. Then it all gets borked.

Are you on the mac client?

Try trashing ~/Library/Application Support/SecondLife

Then download it one last time.
