Hello All ~ Do you have to have a premium account to create an alt avi or just a payment method on record?

Neither, no payment info people can still create an alt.

You used to have to pay $9.95 or so to create alt accounts, but SL has for now suspended that policy.

Create away while you can!

But there is a limit of 5 accounts per email address. To be safe, give them each their own email address (a nice free one, like from Google, but don't use Hotmail).

Yes, and if you give them gmail accounts, you can set it so that all your alts' email is directly forwarded to your main email, saving you the pain of having to log into every alt email address to check mail. I have mine that way, and I love it!

thanks for the replies ~ i have a payment method on record, am not premium. On my log in screen i see a button that says 'new account'. So basically i have to create a whole new account to create an alt? Also are premium members still allowed to create alts?

Yes to both. You make a completely new account, and anyone (premium or basic member) can create additional accounts.

Thanx Nimue! I guess I had it all wrong. I thought you could have up to five alts under the same account. So when people get permabanned, what stops them from just opening a new account.

Nothing, unless LL also does an IP ban. And even that can be worked around.

Why did they still say it costs 9,95usd each additional basic account one time fee on the SL page then??

Because LL has many such out of date verbage...They would need to pay someone to go and update all the verbage in many many places and atm they are frying bigger fishies.
