Hi everybody who reads this.. My friend runs a club in SL and we are constantly plagued by cloned avatars on the camping dance pads. we know its the same person sending them but cant figure out how he/she is doing it. Do any of you good residents know how we can prevent this going on and on on. When we ban the clones the automaticlly replaced on pad by another. at times this can go on for 10 minutes before the person gives up. Any tips on how to spot who is sending them. Thnx ppl

Since the purpose of the dance pads is to drive up traffic numbers, does it really matter if they are clones?

Welcome to the forum Kerrie,
We're having a feel-good Friday here, so you're in luck ![]() Yeah getting rid of the pads would work. Other than that I don't think there's much you can do. _____________________

They are camping bots, you have to ask yourself if you really mind because at the end of the day they will achieve the same result for you as genuine campers.
If your aim is to let genuine people earn the few lindens from the camping spot then I am not sure what to really suggest. I think there are some camping devices out there that promise to be "anti bot" and will kick off bots... not sure how viable these are though. You could try sl exchange and see in marketplace for any ideas ![]() Good luck in whatever you decide. |

Second Life was so much simpler before camping chairs ..
Back then places that wanted high traffic had lame events 24/7 giving money away. Hmmmm ... except for the lame event part, wasn't that much different. |

Bots cannot see like humans can, and cannot read text off textures, all they can do is rely on detecting things such as the name of an object or if it has a script in it etc.
They proberbly can read floating text. You may be able to use that against them. For example naming the camping pads "object", and also having other things named that (with dummy scripts in them) nearby. Of course the owner of the bot could manually direct it for a while so could tell them to go to a particular camping pad. but maybe you could put a texture for them to read after a while that tells them to do something. Once an object is put out it has an object id that they can read (rezzing it again would change that id), so the owner could manually tell them the id's of all existing pads in your place |

get campers with dialog boxes popping up every few mins...to check if they're awake. It worked for a friend of mine...
But as mentioned, the clones give the same traffic as an ordinary lively avi..So why the worry? _____________________

When I had a Mop Pad for camping at the mall, I set it to be "group only" so only invited people to the group were allowed to use it. Is that an option for you?

re: title - she named herself. strange decision, but..... *shrugs*
camping is camping. if the person resending bots was actually online trying to sit someone for 10 miunutes, clearly there was a person behind the avatars. |

If your friend just wants to give out money to new residents, get a money tree.
If your friend just wants to drive up her traffic numbers, tell her not to worry about the bots. If your friend wants it both ways.... drive up her traffic numbers *plus* the feel-good karma of giving money to new residents, she's going about it all wrong ![]() _____________________

You can buy anti-AFK camping devices that can pop up a HUD question every 60 seconds, if the user does not push a button they are booted and cannot sit back down until another person uses the camper first before them. This won't get rid of clones, but would make somebodies life awfully hellish if they were logging in a bunch of alts. Figured i should look and see who made them, that would be the next question, "Lava Inside Anti Idle" camping chairs.

What kind of questions does the HUD ask, Atom?
Nothing too complicated I hope. |

investing in a club by paying campers and what not, has about the same chance of success as investing in Ginko.
