I've found this amazing, but seemly unknown Role Play sim themed around the actual town of Deadwood in the 1800's. We are currently in the year 1878, coming into winter, but the sim was ctually made 2 years ago, starting in 1876. The sim follows real time, meaning, one year IS one year although for RP's sake thign slike pregnancy, jail time etc aren't as long.

Below is a piece form the website describing the town, I've also included the web link.
For my actual question, would anybody from south of the equator, for example, Australia or New Zealand, hell even Antarctica's close enough in time. It's difficult being the ONLY person on in my time zone role playing my character by herself.

"~The Black Hills of the Dakota Territory~

In July of 1874, General George Armstrong Custer led and expedition of a thousand men into the Black Hills of the Dakota Territory to seek sites for future military posts. The expedition included ten companies of cavalry, two of infantry, scouts, teamsters, guides, interpreters, mapmakers, botanists, five newspaper correspondents, and a military band on white horses, who serenaded the explorers with such hits as "The Blue Danube" and composed a new tune, "The Black Hills Polka."

Rumors of Black Hills gold had been circulating for years, and the expedition also included two prospectors, Horatio Nelson Ross and William T. McKay. The company set up camp at French Creek, and McKay and Ross panned through the creek's gravel. In early August 1874, scout "Lonesome Charley" Reynolds rode into Fort Laramie with news that the expedition had discovered gold.

Telegraphs quickly spread the word of the find. By December, the first prospecting company arrived at the abandoned French Creek camp. Building a stockade to protect themselves from the Lakota Sioux who lived in the area, the John Gordon Party found the gold they were looking for, but the U.S. Army soon removed them for trespassing on Sioux Nation Territory, the Hills given to them by the government at the Treaty of 1868. As more prospectors arrived to stake claims, the Army eventually gave up trying to keep the miners out.

Most of the early prospectiong was done in the streams. Although this produced a steady but small supply of "Placer Gold," few got rich panning. Thus began a search for the main source, the veins of gold ore that supplied the creeks. In the fall of 1875, a group of miners looking for this source, moved north into Deadwood Gulch, which soon became the center of the Black Hills gold rush.

Our timeline here begins in the Spring of 1876 when the rush was in full swing with folks from all walks of life pouring into the Hills to seek thier fortunes, whether it be from mining or setting up businesses to support the miners, or those desparate individuals intending to kill, cheat, or steal their way to fortune..."

Even if you dont know how to Role Play, or know what Role Play is, I urge you to have a go at this sim, it's very fun, friendly, there's jobs going, including that of nurses, medical aids, a few of the hotels are looking for cooks and bell boys, plus for the more promiscuous women there are saloons for you to gain employ at, nothign except rent (if you chose to literally live there) costs any real lindens.

You start off in Yankton, pretty much where the play house is and the majority of the stores, some fo which have freebies to get you started. To TP down into Deadwood just right click and Teleport on the Horse cart. But dont forget to follow the easy instructions first when you step off the stand.

Wow - I shall check that out! I'm afraid I'm decidedly north of the equator, though. Hope some of your fellow-Antipodeans read this and join you.

**Lurker mode off**

If you like Deadwood, you should also check out "Tombstone" Its based on the Arizona old west town that was once called "The Town Too Tough To Die".

Set in the Yr of 1898, It covers more then 8 sims. I spend most of my in world time there, and am a full time citizen. You can be a bandit, bank robber, Law dog, cowboy, Call Girl, saloon keeper, shop keeper/owner basically anything as long as it was around and period specific to that era. Very, Very cool.

/me heads back under my rock..for now

That I have! lol and you're ACTUALLY in 1899 now, the cusp of the next Century! I hadn't played much there though simply becaus eit's TOO big, although I've heard they're changing the sim's, havong only one for RP and the rest for rentals and housing.

And I'm glad you seem interested Ms Alva, I certainly hope you enjoy it.

I've visited both Tombstone and Deadwood & had fun exploring both. I'll have to rummage through my inventory, dust off my bustle, and visit again.

Historical? I've been to South Dakota. Not that much has changed.

Just in passing: The equator isn't exactly the issue with timezones, so I wonder: is this really how folks from Down Under refer to their clock offset? ... some sort of Antipodal in-joke, maybe?

lol, why's there an issue with the equator having issues with time zones?
My reference to the equators was simply that people south of it, are more likely going to have thier 'peak time' closer to when I do. Thus, making ti more likely that we would be bumping into one another.

ANY whom =D

For those who gasps and fainted at the thought of RPing historically, it's honestly not too hard, they HAVE all the information at the entrance, and hey, you could be deaf blind and umb if you wanted with an alt to get used ot it first, that's what I did =D

EDIT: Just so you dnt kick up a fuss, I AM deaf, am GOING blinde, and have blonde hair, so I'm not prejidice in the least ... I know, I spelt that wrong.

The equator is just a menagerie lion running round the middle of the earth.

The old ones are the best! :p
