It has been 2 months now. Yes, sorry, I'm impatient :(. I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything new about this. Has LL selected someone yet?

Oh I DO wish someone would come up with something. I have a couple of nice animations of good walks, but if i want to hug someone I have to switch it off, or my avi just stands there looking bored while the other person hugs my frigid looking avatar. I hate that.

I have been in SL for awhile and see nothing wrong with the LL walk and I don't walk like a duck as far as I can see. If you don't like it just attach an AO to yourself and walk like an idiot.

That is the problem really. I do have an AO but I'm rather picky about animations and so my custom AO is just a mix and match of favourite animations from various shops. They don't all blend fluidly from one animation to the next, the turning animation particularly, though better than the default animations.

The most annoying problem as Imogen stated, is having to turn the AO on and off for various things. I presume the creators set the priority too high on their anims.

I like the default walk, but Iyoba is 4'8" and how well animations work is different at the left end of the slider. I think the "cute waddle" or duck walk was designed for avatars of realistic human size.

the hard part will be coming up with a gender neutral walk, that doesn't look effeminate on a male avatar, or dumpy/butch on a female avatar.

If you look at real people walking around in first life you will see that males swing their shoulders as they walk while females swing their hips. Linden Lab has tried to duplicate this with some success and I don't see how a gender neutral walk will work. Maybe it would.

I think you are correct. Maybe there should be a different walk for giants.

They can have separate ones, the viewer already does that. If you try to run the built-in walk anim while wearing a female shape, the viewer forces it to female_walk.

The default avatar walk is actually a very good animation - but for some reason it is running at twice the speed it should be. It looks fine in Poser at 15 fps - but it is running in SL at 30 fps.

I would have thought that Linden Lab could have corrected this comparatively easily????

I can't believe there are people who are actually OK with that walk. *shudder*

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

That makes sense to me Deira... I just never realised... so all this time LL could have just turned down the speed?

sheesh

I've often thought that animation looks like it is just running too fast. So I guess I'm NOT insane (or, at least, I'm not alone in my insanity :))

hey!

i love the duckwak and all default sl anis, some are really nicely done, typing makes me lookin so-> busy :)

but yes duckwalk runs to fast - in daz studio its running smoother.
im 1.7 meters height without shoes. a cubeprim with a ruler texture is helpfull to fit the body height to real, scripts will calculate the boundingbox not the playershape.

i know a lot of people they wont use an ao :D

I like the "typing" anim. A lot of people turn it off but I don't - I think it's charming. It also helps fill in the long akward periods of silence where you don't want to say anything in case the person you're with MIGHT be typing something out, though you don't know for sure.

My AO has hand-picked stand animations just to be sure the typing animation is not blocked. That, clapping, and laughing... It MUST be animated for me. =^-^=
