Free apartments or free parcels for new users?

There used to be free apartments for new users.

Are there still any around?

I see one outfit saying it offers free apartments, a group called Trilegy . I'm surprised to find no mention of this in the forums.

I see the old TigerTor free apartments mentioned but no longer available.

The Trilegy areas are run kind of like sandboxes but with 1 week return, people have trouble rezzing anything because the prims are chronically used up :/

The little huts on the Hawaii sim are pretty much free of the chaos, the place seems to be well managed. Vacancy is always around zero, though.

I was thinking about Tiger Crossing's apartments and things the other day - the robot receptionist, etc. It's very odd thinking about SL as it was then - makes me feel strange.

It hasn't been THAT long, and some of the things are still around, yet it's not possible to recapture the feeling. It's like hearing far away music and not quite identifying the tune.

I think the idea of "free apartments" disappeared loooong ago when the influx of new users made many decide to become "land barons". :(

I've got some very small rooms that will be available in September for new users only.

Ironic perhaps but by virtue of land barony I was able to start doing things like this.

And properly train 'em.

I'd love to have a listing of free to new user spots. Might be nice to have to direct the occasional wayward soul to.

And they're a pain in the rear. If you don't pick up/put down stuff frequently, it'll start sending things back. Says one week, but it was more frequent than that.

Not free exactly, but you can afford them with just a little camping. GQ Start has rooms that rent for L$5 per day.

If I had an extra full sim to devote to a free land area for new players would anyone be interested in helping manage it in exchange for some land on the sim of your own?

We could divide it up, put streets, etc.

Drop me a PM or a note card if anyone would help manage something like this.

I was past 90 days inworld, owning no property, when a group I was a member of offered some free apartments. It was a blast, augmented by the fact that everyone in the little subdevelopment had at least one interest in common.

I think that was when I got hooked :)

I think common-interest groups do a hugely good thing when they offer housing (for limited periods) to members.
