As I have no interest in the current sporting event that is eating up the airwaves of every tv station, I am sitting here with my AutoCAD opening wondering if I want to try and figure out the AutoCAD to SL object that can be bought in world...
What I want to ask is those of you out there who use AutoCAD and have figured this thing out, can you suggest a good place for tutorials and the like? I looked at it once before and got lost with everything and just grew impatient, but I would really like to get it going as I work with AutoCAD for a living and it would really help my portfolio in RL and SL.
So any help anyone has would be greatly appreciated. =)

The two folks I"ve spoken with about that have not been thrilled with the way SL renders the autocad stuff. Lots of trouble with camera angles, and proportions being of to SL "norms" . I'll try to get them to post up here since they can explain it better than I can. I just wish we could get AutoCAD to be mulit-player *whistful sigh*

I don't recall reading about that?
Did you do a forum search for AutoCad?
Do you have any further information on this such as what it is, such as an LSL script or an AutoCad script, the actual name of whatever it is, who made it, where you got it, associated web pages, etc.?

Its something called Henshin... http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=353681I came across it randomly on one of my SLX cruises and after watching the vido on Youtube about it thought it looked useful. Only thing is that after starting to read the notecards that come with it, it gets rather confusing...at least the version I have. I IMed the creator when I first got it only they didnt speak English natively (At least no one associated with them then did) and it didnt help much. If its no good then oh well, but it is something that I would love to see tuned to actually work. As for scripts involved, I know it uses numbers and such brought in from AutoCAD (keyed in by the user) to piece together actual pieces in SL.

I've been a professional autocad user off and on; roughly 1991 - 2003 or so. While they both might fall into the category of "apps that can describe 3d objects" the gulf between the metaverse and the autocad design environment is huge. Any effort to reconcile the two would be fascinating. I'm sure something could be done in regard to import/export, in spite of autocad's infinity of solutions and the grid's straightjacketed prim-ness. But an irreverent analogy involving a greyhound and a chihuahua does come to mind.

The price is low enough to make it worth trying. I have wanted 3D cad programs to allow multiple users to see a model online, with some kind of avatars, for a long time now. Truespace at http://www.caligari.com/Products/trueSpace/ is the closest I've seen so far.
