I'm pretty new in this game and I will be taking over a rental property shortly. I was wondering if it is possible to pay the tier fees in game using linden rather than having to pay cash outside of the game? If so then it would mean I wouldn't have to pay very much if anything out of pocket.
Thanks, in advance, for any help that can be offered.

If it's rental then that's down to your landlord or estate owner. Where are my manners! WELCOME to SL

You cant use lindens in their linden form, but you can cash them out to the lindens and just leave them in your account if I am not mistaken.

Yea good point, big differences. I was assuming they were taking over some linden owned land that is a rental property, not renting.

Just to be clear, Stepha, you are taking ownership of a piece of land. That land is then rented to other people. Correct?
Or, are you going to be renting land and asking about paying tier to Lenden as well?
It makes a big difference. It you are going to rent a place for your personal use, you do not have to pay tier to LL. Your landlord is paying the tier and you aree in turn paying them rent.

So to sum up:- If it's mainland, you'll be paying tier to LL, and you need to have it in your account as US$ at the time it's due. You can pay it into your account, or you can buy US$ with L$. If it's an island, it depends on the specific covenant. If I'm not mistaken most require the tier to be payed to them in RL - often/usually into PayPal - but some will accept it in L$.

basicly, we are buying land that is currently 4096 divided into 4 sections, two of which are currently rented out. The plan is to give ownership of the land and rental group to me. basicly the two persons currently renting will simply be paying me instead of the previous owner and stay in there current homes.
I was basicly wanting to know when the time came to pay my monthly tier if it could be payed in game. I think my question was atleast somewhat answered, Cherry said, "For Linden tier yes ... and they will take money from your account before charging your card".
If I understand that statement correctly, as long as I have the right amount of lindens based on what I owe each month they'll take it from that first before charging my card?
I appreciate the responses to my question, it was much faster than I imagined LOL
Thanks a lot.

No, you've misunderstood. LL take real money from your account for it - not L$.
LL only take tier if it's mainland.

They take from your account balance (of USD) before charging your card or paypal. You can sell your lindens where it says Sell L$ on the left bar of your account page. You can see your US Dollar balance right below your Linden dollar balance on the your acount info page.

Ah, Stepha, No, you will need to sell your L$ on the LindeX ("SELL L$" on the website) and maintain a US Dollar balance in your account. LL will pull tier from your USD balance before your credit card. It will NOT pull tier from your L$ balance.

https://secure-web11.secondlife.com/currency/sell.phpSell L$ to US$ but do not withdraw the US$. This leaves a positive balance which will be used to make membership/tier payments before.
