Not sure where to ask this but What laptop can i get for $800 usd and still be able to run Sl at a decent pace? I don't need this but a a friend dose.

I run SL on a 5 year old laptop without major problems. Vista video drivers on new systems are giving people problems, so check the video card and driver that the laptop would have and see if it is supported by SL.

I hate to be nitpicky, but how many frames per second are you wanting ? Some people are ok with 10 fps, others want higher.

In July I bought an HP dv9207us, Intel Core Duo, 1G Ram (upped that to 2G the same day), with an nVidia geForce Go 7600 (256mb dedicated). It runs SL better than this desktop I'm on now  After $350 in rebates, it was around $850. Great machine, even with Vista  |

It's worth noting that laptops generally don't get rid of heat as well as desktops do. Some are better than others, I guess. SL causes the processors to generate a lot of heat. There's probably less heat when there's not a dedicated video card, but that puts a limit on the speed and graphics quality.
