At least three times this week I've noticed that the "Release Controls" button is active, even though I have no active attachements that should be using controls at that time. I've clicked it and watched two or three HUD devices disappear back into my inventory (whew?!?!) immediately. But... Besides the fact that this button should never detach anything (I think), I find it interesting that it detaches devices which absolutely never take over the controls. I know this for a fact on one of them because I created it, and with a high degree of certainty on the other because it's open source and I've looked at the code plenty of times. Once I see that this button is active when it should not be, I can repro this issue 100%... Unfortunately, I cannot repro getting that button active when it should not be. Seems to happen at least once per day, though. Um, wth? Why would this happen?
[Edit] Phooey, meant to put this in the Technical forum

Most commonly what you describe is a symptom of a scripting technique used to allow HUD attachments to work in No Script areas. Not all hug attachments are equal, for example. If, however, you detach and reattach the HUD object which gives rise to the 'Release Controls' then the button should disappear, although its mysterious effect will persist. If the script has been 'properly' constructed, you can only reproduce the effect if the script is reset which will cause the llTakeControls function to be reissued. If you want to know more then the Scripting Tips forum is the place to search.

I got a small problem, just a few minutes ago I clicked the release controls button and my hud detached, it however would not reattach so I relogged and now its completely disappeared from my inventory along with all the animations I had put in it. D:

Etrace, have a look at this thread... /327/2c/256520/1.htmlIf you are premium, get on live chat with a Linden ASAP and let them know exactly what you did and what happened. Otherwise, submit a support ticket and pray. EDIT: Ann beat me to it

D: Etrace, I hope you were able to submit a support ticket right away about that. then I'd suggest you come directly to: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6110*read all the comments (if for nothing else, it should give you some hope as some folks were able to recover theirs with help from a Linden. *Log in and vote for a fix. *Post a comment and provide as many details as you can about this. I've not yet seen any detail about someone not able to reattach (each instance the item flat out disappeared after detach). All the details are important to those who wield the wrenches to fix things and they're watching in that JIRA issue now. Here's hoping you too can recover yours!
