I'm trying to find some info about renting out land but when I do a search of the Resident Forums and/or the Resident Answers, I get a blank page with an URL of /invalid_link.html
Nothing comes up at all. Just wondering if I need to do something else or how I can find threads related to renting out land. Or if there is anyplace in world to get some info as well.
Thanks for any help.

It's not broken but it's not a brilliant search system. I just did a search on "rent land" (no quotes) and it returned a blank (white) page. So I did a search on "groups" (no quotes) and I got a load listed. It's down to the words you search on.

I think it is broke right now. Whether I get a totally blank page or results seems to be random. Searching the entire forums for just the word "land" or "rent" should have returned tons of posts, but I also got just a blank white page.

I am SO not an authority on search or land. But I think it might be worth your while posting a thread in RA asking for links and advice. There certainly are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people here. Or just change the title and first post of this one slightly?

The impression I get is that words that produce too many results cause the white page instead of the desired results.
Try "renting", instead of rent, and parcels instead of land _____________________

:0 also - mayyybe this is contributing to your blank results - once not long ago i thought search had broken, searching for my own parcels - i was getting no results! i thought it was a bug for at least a day. then i looked closer... i had previous to that searched for a -group- or something else on a different tab of the search window, and had left that tab selected! ;0 so you might make sure that you didn't accidentally leave your search window on a different tab, or that your pg/mature/adult opts are set correctly.
since i'm in a bad habit of like -never- changing the search window settings, the one time i actually changed it, i completely missed that i'd left some settings errant and that was giving me no results for my regular searches. ;0 even though it was my stupid, that is a pretty sillynilly gui design for the seach window; it can leave people thinking nothing in their seach is 'happening'. otherwise though, i have found it not uncommon to search for certain things you'd very well expect -someone- around to have used as a searchterm, but sometimes come up with nothing. some searches, it seems, no one has ever filled a niche for. _____________________

I don't think the forum search is broken, in the sense of not working properly by accident.
It's deliberately crippled. We can't search the forums for the names of LSL functions that are too long. If you wanted to make the forums maximally useful you'd add every LSL function, event name, etc., to a list of exceptions from the "too long" rule. Also we can't search for most 3 letter terms, which is terrible when you want to search for trig functions or "sex". At least one can google search secondlife.com or various parts thereof. The "More Options" search for Second Life Blogs is not too bad but you can't provide a link to it, it only appears by using the regular blog search and then clicking on "More Options". Pffft. Second Life Blogs search with more options displayed:  The different parts of the secondlife.com website aren't laid out to allow using Google search with optimal specificity in a simple and obvious manner. For example, you can't google search and find all of and only the threads in the Second Life Answers Avatar_Threads section that contain the word "invisible" anywhere in the thread. _____________________

Sorry, I was out reverse shopping for the day
 Thank you all for your replies...I've tried using just one word as a search term and I did get results. Seems phrases will not search or it could be that it returned too many hits, so just a blank page appeared. And, yes, the search is related to the forum here, not to search inworld. I will be following up on some of the other suggestions about info to rent out my land (I'm not looking to purchase any additional but have been thinking about renting some of my land out.) Again, thank you all, I'll look for more information and, if necessary, post a new thread about the information I'm looking for.
