ok, I really like bax boots and have several pair, yesterday I buy a pair of the suade brown.... Loved the look, changed the color to a darker.. just loved them.. until
I noticed today my left foot keeps twitching... SO I send an IM and a notecard but I see the creator has help in her store, ok great I TP in and try to explain what is happening, what I am told is it is normal for sculpty boots!?!?!? WHAT? twitching is normal for sculpties?? Not. Now correct me if I am wrong but is this not something in the scripting or perhaps animations in the boot? (which I hate and have turned off sound and AO)
I even used hte "fix boot" button....

She says to me, oh I cant see it twitching, then tells me she can if she cams far away.. I will tell you I was standing at asshandles and my foot was going nuts and I was NOT in cam mode or even caming at all in or out!

You all know how expensive these boots are. These suade ones have so many scripting in it. Look, my black ones dont (and they dont have all the scripting in it these do)

Sooo I really want to know if anyone knows if this is "expected" or "normal" for boots. It even happens when I turn off my own AO....totally detach it in fact!

Thanks

I seriously wish people would STOP PUTTING SCRIPTS IN SHOES>

I'm not sure what you're seeing, but the helper person is seeing the sculpty flicker between different Levels Of Detail (LODs). There's probably somebody who remembers how to adjust your viewer settings to be more or less aggressive about how it renders sculpty LODs, and if that changes your experience, that was what you were seeing too.

(Whatever the LOD, some of us will see all expensive sculpty attachments as squashed gray blobs for several minutes, or hours, or maybe forever. So a little twitching, we'd never notice. ;) )

I wish that Bax boots weren't no-mod in the first place, but they are copiable, and there is an option to remove the scripts (and you even get to choose what functions to remove - good and bad, it/s more flexible but it also means there are separate scripts for each function :p). Try that one, get the boots set up the way you like, make a copy, then remove every last script from the copies, especially the animation stuff. I really haven't seen where the bundled walk is especially needed.

Please report back what you find. I'm having a difficult time imagining scripts doing this, especially if another person doesn't see the effect. (An animation, maybe; I can make up a story for how that could do it, I guess.) If removing the scripts doesn't help, we might want to explore what viewer you're using, and whether we can find anybody else who can see the twitching, too.

(turn off fix feet!)
 Cool, but now I'm curious: what is that? And why could you see it when she didn't?

well, the customer service rep was not understanding hte words I was speaking, im not sure english was her first language.. and she assumed I ment the sculpty thing, but BAX knew right off what I ment!!

What happens is when you use fix boot on the scripts even if turning off the AO it will fight your normal AO, which is odd cause I did have it off at one point.. anyway.. so it twitches because its fighting animations.. I guess?? :o

Hello Tarina, about your foot twitching, did you try to turn off the foot fixer? (in the boots menu [Walks/Feet] -> [Free Feet])
yes 'Free Feet' turns it off

'Fix Feet' turns it on which means the Boots play an animation that fixes the feet but it may 'fight' with your AO over who controls the feet

now I shall go buy all her boots.

For the past few server & viewer versions, animation stopping has been a little wacky, like it doesn't always work. I think it's combination of server and viewer goofiness.

Anyway, there is this "ankle lock" fad with boots lately, I guess that the joints are too hard to make look good so a frozen ankle is a hoped-for workaround. Since the viewer forces joint priorities down to 4 at playback even if an animation asset is tweaked for use higher, the only way to make something like this work is to use a spammy start-over-and-over loop.

And there is one way you can have this problem, an undead animation fights with this looped thing and you get flappy feet. Add to this that you and other observers won't necessarily see the same combination playing, and what looks all wrong to you looks fine to everyone else :p

The "Fix Feet" option is for those sitting poses that move the feet in unreal angles when wearing high heels.

Tarina, Viktoria, Rhonda, thanks for the explanation. That all makes sense.

No problem. Just go swimming and let the feet do the work :)

Silly me.

I clicked on this thread thinking the subject was "scripted boobs twitching".

Imagine my disappointment.
