emerald viewer

hi everyone im thinking of trying the emeral viewer . however i dont want to loose my current standard viewer.. so can i download the new emerald and install it onto my desktop and use either viewer of my choise? or will installing the new viewer over ride the old one?

I switch between both viewers.

You actually need the SL one so it can use parts of it's install - i think like voice if i recall...

you mean i cant have two different icons on the desktop ? if i dont like the emeral one?

Yes you can have two Icons. I had uninstalled the regular viewer and installed Emerald. And I discovered I had no SL Music or SL Voice. had to uninstall emerald and then install the SL Viewer before re-installing emerald to get the sound back. Without the sound features the Emerald worked less laggy. My bandwidth at this point cannot hardly handle the radio function in SL. I am working to boos my bandwidth.

Read above Lias- as I said you need to have the SL client installed so that it uses portions of it to run- ie voice and sound. But yes- you can switch around to your hearts content- I have Hippo, Cool, Kirstens, SL and now GL - so far GL is my fave.

great tyvm my current viewer is fine but i want to try emerald ..now i can with out ruining what i had if i dont like it that was my biggest concern . ty

Another thing i liked about it is that it automatically put my chats in the sl app data file - this is diff fromthe others that created new app data files for tem selves- so if i wnat to hunt down something i have to guess what viewer i was in at the time!

yes im learning to build as we speak and there is different shapes in the build cool . i have emerald downloaded at home on my desktop but havent installed it yet.. that will be my first thing

I actually had to uninstall the LL viewer to get emerald to work correctly. I can play music and have voice. Well I can hear voice anyway, I don't actually use it. The only glitch I have is sounds echo and repeat in sl, like when I click on something.

My favorite bit about the Emerald viewer is the abillity to turn off the "blackout" during TP.

I can continue to do inventory work or communicate DURING a TP.

Now all it needs is RLV and to throttle the CPU usage.

this will not install on my brand new rig :/ was running it on my old amd system, but my brand new spanking custom build intel refuses to run it.
