Joining Parcels - beware

Yesterday, I swapped a 16m donut hole for another 16m parcel in the same sim (ty Weedy if you read this). I deeded it to the group and joined it to the main parcel. In joining it, I selected only the 16m plot and a 16m square next to it - only those. At the time I had an Art Gallery parcel on the other side of the new 16m, but I only selected the new 16m and the 16m next to it, which was part of the main parcel.

Today I find that the Art Gallery parcel has also become joined to the main parcel, so it no longer exists. I didn't even look for that effect yesterday but that's when it obviously happened. I am absolutely certain that I selected just two 16m squares, so the three parcels should not have been joined, but they were. It would have been possible for me to select the wrong 16m square to go with the new one, but that would merely have joined it to the wrong parcel.

It's a bit of a pain for a day because I'm in the middle of having a little battle in the All search - it's a bit of fun - and adding the items for sale in the Art Gallery has totally screwed up my html page for a day. If I'm lucky, I'll probably live.

Day before yesterday I acquired a 512m adjacent to my existing 512m and a 256m adjacent to that, and joined them all together in 2 steps, then deeded them all to my land holding group. A few minutes later my GF acquired another 512m that was surrounded by the U made up of my/our holdings and she deeded that to our group, and then joined that parcel to make up an "instant" 1280m mainland parcel. We had no problems but this doesn't sound like Phil's scenario. I was finding it very hard to get the selection rectangle correct, though. It was thinking I was on the neighor's plot even though I was 90% sure I was only on our land. Could be related. Jackie

Hi Jackie. It's not like my scenario - you're right :) If SL didn't screw it up, the only possibility I can think of is that my mouse inadvertantly moved to select 4 x 16m bits, but I'm used to selecting land and seeing the yellow lines, and I have the utmost confidence that I selected only the two 16m bits - I actually remember it. BUT...

I may be getting away with it. The All search index has updated for today and, like yesterday, only the website results changed (and my main ranking plummeted, as expected). The in-world index hasn't changed since the day before yesterday - yet - and that change was a very peculiar one. For tomorrow's update my html page will be as it should be and I may get through without any negative effect :)

Curses! I spoke too soon. The in-world All search index has updated and I'm stuffed now until tomorrow's update.
