Falling through the floor

Hi Everyone,

I'm a little new to SL and the Form and I have a problem. When I teleport to a friend's house I end up under the floor on the ground. I can fly up back into the room with the landing point, but then sink through the floor again if I try to land. If I fly up back up into the room and move to a different room I can then stand on the floor of that room. If I walk back into the room with the landing point I again sink through the floor. However if I teleport to a location outside her house and then walk in through the front door I can walk into the room with the landing point and anywhere else in the house without any problems.

Any ideas what's causing this? I'm running the latest release client on a Windows Vista system. Besides this everything else works pretty well.

Celeste.

I experienced this very thing yesterday in a public meeting place. I have no idea what causes it, but I would be surprised if its anything to do with the house itself. It seems to be something linked to teleporting ...

... which shoudn't surprise anybody. :/

Same here. And it happens now and then for no apparent reason. I just seem to walk through the hill of my back yard, or my deck, walls, whatever. Will go on for a few days at home and other sims and then quiets down for a few weeks. I just think you can rack it up to SL oddities and one of those things you just have to live with now and then. I posted about it and nobody came up with a good answer then either.

I'm getting that too, falling through two floors onto the hillside below when I tp into my home. I figured it was just another tp glitch.

I've experienced that to but only recently. TP to home or work platform and fall thru the floor. It is some kind of relief to know it is a more common bug and not just happening to me.

Ohhh... just another Linden bug!

Move on, nothing to see here.

This happened to someone at the club a couple of weeks ago - I offered her a teleport, she flew up and back down again, she teleported away and came back, but every time she tried to stand on the dance floor, she fell through to the ground beneath.

I had fallen through earlier that evening when I TPed in, but I jumped on and off a dance ball and apparently that was enough to ground me on the floor. After our guest fell through, I walked all over the floor and it was solid under me. I haven't seen it happen since, luckily.

That started happening to me after a recent server upgrade, but only when TPing to my home location, which is a platform at 500m. I solved the problem by setting my home location to be 1m higher.

Hmm I have had the same thing after i recently altered my plots land hight and put up a new building. Had the TP point and my home location on the ground floor but was repeatedly arriving at basement level but sort of jammed inside a wall prim.

I solved it by moving my home point to the the flat roof of the building, without ever thinking it was any sort of SL problem.

Kind of makes our 2nd life more interesting, never know whats gonna happen tomorrow and at least this ummm error is non destructive, even if a bit annoying. :)

Sinking in Floor of my store
08-21-2008 20:05
I have this problem and so do my customers who come in my shop. It does not always happen. I have tried lots of things with my landlord. Here is what we tried.

1. Setting the TP location a few meters higher. No real effect. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

2. Changing the floors to all regular prims, used to be mega prims. A little better but the problem still occurs.

The floor of the store is a meter or so above the actual SL ground.

Since it only happens when people teleport, I am guessing may it is due to

1. The floor is not rezzing as fast as the person. Or the asset servers are responding slowly or both.

The problems always seem worse on days that SL seems slow.

I would love to see this problem resolved.

Hate to be a "me too" but....

Me too, i had this happen at my house a few nights ago, thought the whole build had become phantom (have done that before lol) but nope just SL wierdness and straight after a tp too. I did another tp out, then back and everything was fine again - wierd.

I had this happen a couple of times, about a week or so ago. Since then it's been ok, and I'd never experienced it before.
