Hi everyone. Prolly a stupid question coming up... Is there was a sure fire way to load other avs and textures quicker on your screen? At the moment, people's and textures take ages to fully and clearly appear so they are not grey. Usually I can cope with it. But sometimes it is very frustrating. I know probably everyone has had this problem at some point. I was wondering if anyone had figured a trick out for getting it to appear quicker. Personally I have to use my <alt> camera controls and repeatedly zoom in and out. On shop walls, the clothes don't appear unless i zoom in and let my mouse hover over the texture - this can get very annoying in a shop with lots of items. Also, sculpties are annoying me. They load at an ok speed, but I have a couple of sculptie hairs which i really like and people keep thinking I am wearing some weird attachment that looks like a bunch of baubles on my face or something. Is there any way i can help others see what I am wearing faster? Im not sure if a rebake helps me or them or whether it affects worn sculpties at all. wow this post was longer than i had intended lol. Happy New Year everyone. Hope you all had a good 'un.

If you go to the network tab in preferences and move the bandwidth slider up and down several times it will often make things rezz much faster. This mainly works for prims that haven't rezzed at all, rather than textures that appear grey, but it does seem to help with AVs not rezzing, and sometimes seems to speed up the rezzing of textures. Remember to leave the slider where you want it when you've finished.

When occuring, the remedy would be to wind it up and down a bit to scrape through the fluff/whatever to make a good connection. It seems delightful in this day and age we're doing similar to a digital application. Seems like a tribute LOL Hello and Happy New Year Claire! Sorry I didn't say this at my brief appearance at the party! Something else you can do is reduce your draw distance. I increased mine recently for a particular sim that had a sleigh ride and forgot to reduce it afterwards till things got very laggy. Also, a quick Cntrl/Alt/R gives the system a kick in the pants sometimes.

kewl, I'll have a go at fiddling the settings next time. It just annoys me is all because I like to see other peoples clothes and admire them. lol no worries bilbo. Hello /me waves If I reduce my draw distance any more I may be reduced to finding a 'peer through the fog' animation. I have it as low a I can possibly have it at the moment. It is just far enough for me to see the entire hangout and a bit further lol.

When I face a shop interior, textures in the medium distance often load quicker than the ones immediately in front which can be infuriating. Also turning around seems to loose a lot of textures as when you return to original view they get reloaded. I wonder if your cache might do with increasing. Once upon a time everyone would say clear cache but I for one am terribly negligent of doing this these days.

i dunno. I'll try the cache thing when I get home. People must think i am really wierd when I go shopping lol. I am so used to using my cam controls that I go to a shop, find a place out of the way to stand and use my camera to view the shop. I'll cover the entire shop, buying what i want then use the arrow keys to move so my camera returns to my avvie. lol. I'll then go elsewhere. People must just see my avvie stood facing the wall or however she ends up and think i've gone loopy hehe. I just find it easier (what with my wierd zoom in out thing) to use my camera than to walk the miles round the shop. What can I say - i have a lazy av lol.

Heh heh, I do much the same usually Claire. I'll come back to my avie to find someone's been talking to me .... often after my finger's slipped on the Alt key and I've left my camera on the wrong side of a wall

lol. i keep pressing space key instead of alt so end up stuck in the typing anim for ages and people are waiting for me to say something lol. I love the big stores. Plenty of space for my camera to have fun. I don't have to zoom too close so that I am not looking through a wall etc. Of course this means the textures take forever to load....

I shop the same way Claire. I hope you found my stores easy to see around yesterday! They were kind of laid out for exactly that. No kiosks in the middle to screw you up

I've also thought the texture download priority was a bit weird.
Another thing that helps is to hover your mouse over a gray texture for a few seconds. That will bump the priority way up..

Honey, your stores are perfect. Simple design, well set out and classy. It was very quick to load and I was very impressed. Thats even without mentioning the brill items you have there. Plus the beach is a brill idea. I got to test out my new bikini/beach wear straight away lol. I do that at the minute Meave, Its just very annoying when you have to do that to every texture in the shop. I just didn't know if there was a way to boost them all lol. especially textures on other avvies.

You could cut your draw distance way down until nearby things rez.. Kindofa pain but might help get all the close stuff done quickly.

You can also lower your draw distance below 64 through the debug settings, I believe it might be RenderFarClip? I set mine to 48 after seeing my FPS come up dramatically there, and have been delighted ever since! Also, are you using the Nicholaz viewer modification? His is faster, especially with textures! Yes, I camera shop too, so much easier, of course it doesn't work in RL as well unfortunately. However you might position your AV closer to what you want to look at first, rather than facing a wall so those textures load earlier!
