I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I can't find it. A couple of days ago a friend and I formed a group so that we could buy land between us. We bought 6912 sq. m. on the mainland grid - no covenant. everything seems to be fine but we cannot edit land textures. World - Region/Estate - will not allow us to change anything.
Likewise in the edit land terrain - textures are locked. Do we need to do something to get this released - or is this just the way things are.
Oh and if anybody can explain how to set up radio on it (explain as if I'm five!) I'd appreciate that too

Nope you can't edit land textures on mainland. Sorry.
To set up radio, find a URL of a stream that you like, and paste it into the music URL field in About Land/Options (I think, not inworld right now.) Make sure that you have music turned on in Edit Preferences.

The only 'land texture' you can edit is to raise/lower the land by +/-3M. Only Estate, Private Island, owners and their allowed managers can edit terrains.
For the radio I'd also add that you may need to deed it to the group.

only on private island the sim owner can change landscaping textures, mainland it`s all fixed to what LL has set it to
to add a stream manually as oryx has said, if u have an radio, u can deed it to the group in the general tab of the build menu (share&deed&share), it basicly is an prim with a list of streams u can add in a notecard and change on click or with an popdown depending what u get
edit, not all media extensions can be played inworld, best way is to find some trough shoutcast website for the stations u like

Even on an Island, we can only modify the texture on the entire sim. On mainland, this is mostly for your own protection. Imagine how bad the land would look if every 512 owner wanted a different climate.
As for radio, I would recommend the kind that does a search for thousands of stations, instead of the kind with the pre-made list. I use both, but prefer the search type. You can find them on SLexchange for under 500 L.
