Making an alt help please?

Hello Im planning on comming back to SL soon when I get my laptop fixed. I created an alt for this purpose via the library. I cot the confirmation link and clicked it and it took me straight to download the viewer? Obviously I can't do that here. I cant log in it says I do not exist. Will that account expire after a while if i dont follow through with the download? Do i have to wait till i get my laptop back to create an alt? I have SL on my laptop already though.

You don't need to use a specific computer for SL.

Write down any information in the confirmation email (like a link you need to go to to complete the registration).

Go to a computer that you have SL on, or can download it to. Log into SL with your new avatar name and password.

I've heard that new accounts that aren't logged in within 48 hours are deleted, but that hasn't been the case in my experience.

You might try logging into the alt's account page and changing some settings. Maybe even post in the new blog with it too. Just keeping the alt active in one way or another in the system should keep it from being deleted. (This is based from previous experience that is four years old.)

TY I wont get to attatched to my last SL name then. I will just create another one when i can get back online.

I tried logging into the account via the web and it says the user doesnt exist and my name doesnt show up in search in world either. I wonder how else you can verify it.

Hey...I thought you said you registered on a public computer, and couldn't get in world there, and had a broken laptop. How are you searcihing in world?

Why don't you just stay with Simplebear Bing? You don't need another account. Simplebear Bing will exist in the Linden Lab servers until you request deletion, basically.

I've registered one or two alts in my time (about 30 or so) and downloading the software was never part of the registration process although you are offered it. I would say that that isn't the problem and that either the registration process wasn't completed for some reason or there was a fault in the system when the alt was registered.

About the search business. Is "Show in search" the default? If it isn't, it won't show in search.
