I'm looking at home control systems...the gadgets that control multiple aspects of a structure, like lights, windows, shades, doors, security, radio channel, etc.

It needs to be a "builders version", copyable and transferable, for use in my builds.

I've seen several on the market. AE Worx, Apez, Paskis, and others. However, I'm having a hard time comparing them, and I want to make the right choice because these puppies are expensive...$L3,000 to $L7,000.

Does anyone have experience with these products? What's your recommendation(s)?

they are all the same crap - all do something better than other things but none does everything perfectly.

The real question is, what is the need for a centralized system on SL.. so far I have not found one or I would have made my own system already.

If you buy the individual systems and install them you will usually come out spending less and get exactly what you need/want.

Lindal - I have a freebie version of a system that does that. I got it on Xstreet, but cannot remember the exact name. I'll find it there or check my inventory when I log in later.

Here is the Builder's edition of one of them, but there is another that I cannot find right now:

I'm open to that option. The Paskis scripts are pretty much that way...separate ones for each function, and no centralized control panel.

So let's talk individual functions. Here's what I'd like to see:

Lights. I want the light switch to control the glow of several "light bulb" prims, as well as the actual light cast by a separate light prim (I don't like each lamp to have its own light, because of the limited number of OpenGL lights). I'd also like the switch to be able to control the on/off of several "light beam" prims, and shadow textures. Control of color and intensity would be a nice, but not essential, feature.

Windows. Control inside and outside transparency and texture. A feature to control an animated blind or curtain texture would be a plus.

Doors. Smooth opening. Slide or rotate types. Single or dual types. Lock/unlock. Access by list or group. Blacklist. Option to stay open or to close in a set period. Amount of rotation or sliding settable. Doorbell nice, but not essential.

I could make wishlists for local TPs and security too, but I already know how those work and where to find good ones.

Lil, that looks great! Affordable, AND they have a freebie demo you can play with first.

You rock.
