stoping the typing ani

hiya
ive just got a new pc and my old settings are gone and ive forgot how to stop the typing ani
i have the advanced menu opion but dont know what i need to put in to make the typing ani stop....
can anyone help me .

They added a checkbox in preferences for it, look in the Text Chat tab, near the bottom.
The old PlayTypingAnim debug setting still works, if you like to do things that way =)

I have a friend who doesn't like it when I stop the ani because he can't tell when I'm typing/responding or just afk. So, I enable it for him but leave it disabled the rest of the time.

Since the subject has been raised: does anyone know how to stop the "NoddingLikeAStuffedDogInTheBackWindowAnim"?
You know that little burst of incipient Alzheimer's when we hit 'Return' to say a line of chat?

It looks pretty funny. I actually like the typing animation but it annoys people so I disabled it. |

For testing a typing override I was using some dances as stand-ins, but somehow it seemed to fit in with the rest of SL's surreality. And then I thought it would be really cool if every 5 seconds, avatars alternated between their normal animations and Uniqlock dances. And then I decided it was time to get up and go outside.

I'm unsure of the level needed for overriding the 'idiot nod', it may not need be that high, unfortunately even if it's only 3 playing a higher priortiy animation over it won't unlock the head for other things, so they'd need to explicitly mobilize the head =/

I say we just get rid of every animation too. because to me without the typing animation feels like I am being ignored.

My problem is that I prefer neck-free animations because they allow my av to look *at* the other av when I'm talking to him. I understand many prefer the typing animation because of the visual cue it provides but I can't see how that dumb nod helps anyone.
I'm very surprised the developers did not think to include an option to turn it off in the client.
