This bug coincides with the launching of the new official registration portal, the one that makes you pick a first name before presenting a list of available last names.
I have been able to reproduce the bug. Having others reproduce the bug will help get LL's attention. It's pretty simple -- create an alt using your own referral link. Do you get a calling card for your main? Does your main get a calling card for your alt? No? That's bad! That means you have zero possibility of getting a premium signup bonus (L$2000) for the RL friends you refer who convert to premium. No possibility at all. I created a sub-task for reproducibility. The rest of the bug investigation must happen on LL side, so I need to get their attention.
One last note is that there is a possibility that there has been not an oversight but a silent policy change. Did LL end the Refer-A-Friend program? I don't see an announcement. The program is still advertised on the website:

If that is the case, we need to get LL to come clean about it so people like me can stop wasting their time.
