Is there anyway to make your own url with the SAM program to put into SL without renting a server? Am wondering if there is also a way to do the same with video but not with SAM of course.

Short answer yes there is! You can make your own server using ShoutCast Server which need to be installed onto your system and this is done in only one minute. With your own IP and its port you have your own URL. And then you can run SAM or another software using the server to stream your music to your friends BUT
As more listeners you have, the more bandwith is needed. Heaving a normal DSL connection will work for 4-8 peoples depending on your upload speed.
To serve more people especially for clubs you will have to get a deticated server with a good quality. I am not going deeper into details right now but I could talk 3 days if you want me to.
I advice you to install your first server and stream your music to a couple of pople in world so you know how this all works because it will be also important if you are going to rent a deticated server - no matter if you do this professionally as a musican or as a ÐJ in any club... contact me if you need further help
