I was looking at land and houses and one house we like has a 60x45 sqm base but says it needs a 5520 sqm lot..ok I looked at lots that size and a lil bigger...why do I need that big of a lot? I mean the house is no were close to the size of the whole lot...looks like it will at the most need a 1024 size lot to fit..(rough mesurements).

it could be because of the ammount of prims or so that you have space around the house to decorate and do outside things

Rebel It looks like it? Don't go by rough estimates as you'll wind up buying a house bigger then the land you're setting it on. Whatever size it says on the house or ad thats what it is. Forget the 'it looks like' cause you'll wind up losing money.

The usual size for a 512 lot is roughly 16mx 32m (allowing for 117 prims.) The usual size for a 1024 lot is 32m x 32m (allowing you 234 prims.) Getting the right size house is both a consideration of actual footprint and prim needs. A general rule to go by is that your house should use no more than 1/3 of your total prim allowance. Furniture tends to rather prim heavy, so if your house structure eats up all your prims you'll be sitting on plywood cubes in your living room.... Stay with the house creator recommendations on parcel size -- especially if it is your first house. Many a first time landowner has bought their dream house only to find that it is too large for their parcel and/or uses all their prim allowance.

never go on the size of land needed for a house!
look how many prims the house uses, 1024sqm = 234 prims the house might be 500 prims, but as previously said, to have a decent doration inside and outside, you need alot more prims, it`s like saying "recommended for **** and abouve"

As a landlord and house builder, I find that a good estimation is this: approximately 100 prims per 20x10x5 space. Furniture is very primmy, especially the more elaborate... toys... that are out there. I see what people put into their apartments, and you'd be surprised how many prims you can stick in that small a space.
Think of it this way: a room is a 10x10x5 space and most furniture will take up around 50 prims to fill the room. So if you have a 1024 lot, I wouldn't get something much bigger than a 20x20x5 or 20x20x10 footprint. Mind you, the 20x20x10 is typically going to be a lot more empty.
