I'm assuming this is just me, but for some reason when people post link in their posts, I can see the code and everything in them and have to highlight, copy, and paste them into new windows to open them. Do I have some funky option set that I don't know about?
Thanks.

Thanks. Nearly a year ago the Lindens shut off the Code which allowed the links to function properly They said it was temporary. -------------------------- Kind of sad that a company that wants to be the future of the internet cant even get links to work on their forums ... (thanks Lindal hehe)

Oy. Ok. I totally thought it was me because I kept seeing new posts with the code still in them. I figured if the code didn't work, then people wouldn't use them, but either it's automatic, or others like me are just unaware. Thank guys. ^^ It was bothering me forever and I kept wondering what I was doing wrong. lol

Hey LL, you want to see what real forum software looks like? Some bug was found in the BBCode so they turned it off, they don't moderate here, they don't (routinly) post. It's sort of a ghost town really, populated by us forum bums THough if you use the "img" tags instead of "url" you can get links to work again... But yeah, actually I thik that LL would just as soon get rid of the forums completely. they have no interest in maintain it at all. I think the idea is that they would rather everythig take place in world, though there is no real in world replacement for a forum system that I know about.

A lot of people end up seeing a blank space in the post when others do that...no link, no text. It's better to use Strife's Grease Monkey script (stickied at the top of this forum) or Firefox's Linkification add-on if possible.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

It's better to use Strife's Grease Monkey script (stickied at the top of this forum) or Firefox's Linkification add-on if possible. the blanks space is caused by they way img tags are handled. it the link doesn't end in an img extension (jpg, gif, whatever) it mus contain a search character (that's a question mark) since some img hosting websites use php and search strings to return a valid img.... so if the link you are trying to make active doesn't have a question mark in it.... add one to the end (does not harm) and presto, it works correctly. if you have signatures turned on there's a link in mine to quick instructions to install strife's bbcode emulation (it's really painless) and WORKING links to everything you need (firefox, grease monkey, and strifes plugin) takes like 3 minutes to get working. also note, changing to basic editing mode will allow you to see original formatting of other peoples posts when quoting. including things like spacing for scripts and img tags for rebuilt links.

Sounds like a real programmer could make a good dollar by making a forum that works inside the metaverses somehow. A hud? I guess it could come anyway with html on prims.
