Welcome to the non-exclusive club. The objects missing from the database seems to be a rampant condition. Is it curable? We hope so but don't hold your breath. Bitch at LL if you can figure out how to.

The asset server has been having "issues" this afternoon. Check again on it later tonight or tomorrow.

*sigh* I had a texture go missing... apparently it's also affecting all the dresses that had that texture on it. Grrr! And from a nice customer, apparently, it's affecting customer copies of the dresses as well. *sigh* So much for a peaceful b-day weekend!

I would not have thought such a thing could happen. Wouldn't that imply that if you deleted that original texture, the dresses would also lose it? That sounds like something is more borked than usual.

So now, given how the LL servers like to eat things for days on end, I can be out somewhere and all of a sudden the clothes that I've actually managed to get from my inventory (which is a task all by itself these days) can lose their texture - maybe for many days? Not even a copy would help me in that case. :(

I don't exactly know how the texture system on objects work. I'm going to assume that the function on the UUID of the texture that is 'painted' on it?

I had my husband test the dresses that he had that were affected (I use his girl for my test dummy on some gowns).. and the lace showed a 'Missing Image,' and the original upload (when it finally turned back up in my inventory) was also 'Missing Image.' Keep in mind this will happen if the texture is not in your resident cache, so clearing the cache will trigger it.

Or first time using it... which means... customer service nightmare for me. Ah, well.. I'm slowly getting the lace replaced on most of the gowns and am updating vendors as I get it done. It's replacing customer copies that is going to be 'not fun.' Romance Time is my problem child, but fortunately, I keep the colors of the dress, so it's easier to fix the lace on ONE and then copy/paste, re-texture the fabric and rename for each color. My husband was watching to make sure the other textures weren't affected.

Just grrrr, though.

Objects missing for past month
10-03-2007 17:02
I first noticed "Objects Missing from Database" about a month ago. That was some of my clothing.

The past few days it's affected every object in one entire folder, unfortunately that was my SHOES folder.
Every single object in that folder is Missing from Database......all of my shoes are now gone!
I'm completely heartbroken. I have no shoes.

This has been a serious and recurring issue...

This isn't something *new* - the "bug" that causes inventory to read out as "missing from database" has plagued SL for YEARS.

There is a JIRA issue that addresses the missing inventory problem...VOTE ON IT!

SVC-114 - Please, cast your vote, and let LL know that this problem requires their immediate and unflagging attention.

Sky is falling... Store is closed!!!
10-04-2007 09:40
Hello! I'm the owner of the Burorughs jewellery and we have that problem since last week. I loose around 30% of my jewels textures and 10% of my building and vendors textures. On last thursday I loose half of them and monday I loose the other half part, but that time, I loose items too. The items are still in my inventory, but when you try to rez them it say the they are missing from the database. And yes, it's affecting the items that were already bought months ago.

So now everything is so messy, that I had no choice and my store is now temporary closed since 3 days. Very good for business and reputation. A filled a support ticket a week from now and no new at all. Very bad customers service!!! Unforgiven for a big business like Lindens. They have seriously to think about a kind of backup system for important inventory stuff or at least a way to re-upload those textures when they are suddenly missing..

And Raudf Fox you're rigth, replacing customer copies will be a real pain for me and for them too!
