For the last week or two every time I fly across a sim border I keep on going for 5 to 20 seconds before getting control back. Of course I have allways experienced a rubberband effect but I have never seen it in such an annoying way before. Does anyone know if it is an SL issue or just me (otherwise I may have to look for another computer)?

1. If you are wearing any scripted attachments where you have the rights to edit the scripts, make sure they're NOT compiled for Mono.
2. Reduce the number of scripts you're wearing, if you can't do that. _____________________

make sure they're NOT compiled for Mono. Uhm, why? I'm no scripter, but wasn't Mono supposed to be the new and good thing? _____________________

Uhm, why? I'm no scripter, but wasn't Mono supposed to be the new and good thing? The problem is that Mono is much much more complex than the LSL2 code. When you move a Mono script from one sim to another the sim it's coming from has to walk all the variables and lists in the program, convert them to a string, copy that string (which can be up to 64k) to the other sim, which then walks that, recreates the variables, loads the Mono code, recompiles it to machine code, and then restarts the virtual machine. When you move an LSL2 script from one sim to another you copy 16k of data over and that's it. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3895 _____________________

Thank you for that explanation, Argent, which actually made a lot of sense to me. Considering that, again, I'm no scripter, this is a minor miracle.

Thanks for the input. I will try and inspect myself a little closer and see what I am wearing.

For info - I was flying around with a texture organizer. When I detached that. Much better
Thanks again. |
