I have lines extending from avatars titles that show their position, even when the avatars are off my screen. This leaves lines pointing off my screen constantly. What is this? I have looked through Advanced menus and can find no reference to this. It does not occur on my mac, only on my PC. Is this some sort of "avatar positioning locator" or something? How do I turn it off?

Sounds like you have 'Show Chat Bubbles' enabled. It puts local chat in a "text bubble" or word balloon over the avatars' heads.
To show chat in a line by line display instead, go to Edit/Preferences/Text Chat and uncheck the "bubbles" box.
