weird poofing effect

I'm getting a really weird effect, and at least one visitor to my sim has also experienced it so far, there are white squares poofing around me from about ground level wherever I walk. Not just when I walk, but also if I stand still. It's basically ruining my sim. It stops intermittently for a minute or so, and then starts up again. I'd guess it's happening ~50% of the time I'm there, and it's extremely annoying. It happens in both regions that my sim straddles (Mysten & Goremoor).

Is this some sort of griefer attack? Or have the servers gone haywire again?

Any suggestions most gratefully received!

Remove all your attachments. It's more likely somthing you're wearing rather than the sim.

It reminds me a bit of Splashable Water gone slightly crazy. (And gives me an idea for an old western ghost town with dust rising from each footstep.) So, it could be a scripted something that's targeting your avatar with just the right particle effect. Would be a tricky texture, though, because your avatar location is about waist-high... and if a particle, would look very strange from other angles... unless it's a follower prim dropping textures at as it goes, at llGround level. Hmmm....)

There's also the weird texture used for foot shadows, but I can't think of a way for that to be unrezzed, nor to be anything other than the default.

This visitor who saw it, did they see it only rising from your steps, or from their own as well? If both, then seems unlikely it would be an attachment, unless you're each wearing the attachment.

The fact that the visitor saw it at all makes it unlikely that there's some obscure viewer setting that, like, makes visible the collision sounds of footsteps in that strange way.

think I sorted it - found an object belonging one "Ladyy Cooljoke" in the Mysten portion of my sim, and once I'd returned it, the problem seems to have stopped (not that I'm making any accusations of course.)
But the weird thing is that object autoreturn is set for 1 minute. And that it was affecting the neighbouring region, where there is most definitely no such object.

Only from their own - I wasn't online at the time.
I'm no expert on particle effects, so I don't have a clear idea how it was done, but I'm guessing the object was spawning a child every minute to escape the auto-return.

Darned annoying, anyway! (thank goodness for banlists!)
