I was roaming around some Gothic Sims & I met a newbish girl who asked me a bunch of questions I wasn't able to answer, but I figured someone here could.

She wanted to get into Vampire RP but didn't know how to get started. (My guess would have been, 'Get bit." but that seemed rude :P).

Paraphrasing for length:
Where do you get the fangs/AO's/other Vampy necessities?
How newbie friendly are they(the Vampire community)?

There are several Vamps hanging about the Undead Thread (where else?) ("Just Ignore This one, Let It Die";)

LOL strangely enough I actually have an answer for you :P

In my experience, the Vamp clans and groups are NOT very newbie friendly... The one I almost got into was only because I went to a certain club that a couple of them members would frequent and built a tentative relationship with them. Their particular rules were that you had to be 'bitten' by the group leader/master and afterwards you went through a probationary period where you need to prove your loyalty to said leader/master.

After that (the period was usually about 2 weeks) then you joined under the lowest ranks of the group and were able to be promoted after certain timeframes and continued loyalty... They are also very strict about these things, you did NOT communicate with any vamps outside of your group as a lower rank or immediate ejection from the group and banning from the sim.

I'm not sure about AO's but alot of the Vamp sims have animations and props/accessories that the members can purchase.

Hope this helps you some :)

Most Vampire and other Dark RP sims usually have a market with appropriate attire and such.

Have your friend send me an IM in world. I know a girl who's going with a vampire, and one of my business partners' alts is also a vampire. I can put her in touch with the Dark Side.

Or have her send an IM to our own Gabriele Graves, voted "Girl I'd Most Want to Be Bitten By".

Wow. My own RP community experiences were Caledon, Tombstone, & Deadwood. Dress in period appropriate clothing and don't be a jerk were pretty much the guidelines.
I'm glad I asked here rather than give her my 'best guesses'.

LOL granted, I'm pretty sure not every group is like that. It just happened to be the experience I had... I sometimes bring out my Goth persona but I usually avoid that vamp groups because I expect them to be strict and I just don't have the time to dedicate to it with RL

I've found NoRSim a friendly RP group... if she's into the more combat side of RP. they have a large Vampire (or as they call them Nocturnal) group who have several families and clans.. or you can play as an independant.

They are also very newbie friendly and have mentors at the main landing pads who will help you with all the rules and setting up a warps account, teach you the basic of SL combat. etc...
