how does the "central database" impact both SL and the web site?

Dunno.. There's a wiki entry for it but it doesn't really say why the web site fails, unless it's something that impacts enough things that they deliberately shoot the website when it goes down.

I read the wiki and remember LL blog that said logins would eventually be tied to web.maybe it's already here, or partly.
