i just did a quick search and coud not find another post on this but sorry if it is double posted, i'v gone to do some terraforming today on a sim where someone made a boo boo and i noticed the terraforming tools now has a strength meter! thats so frikken cool. it's on the latest RC update and i can't wait to really test it's limits, it's going to make smaller peices of work alot more easier to handle IMO and larger peices a touch more quicker. very exciting -Crunch EDIT: even the dots on the ground are diferent now! *claps like a happy little kid with new toy*

Nice Not seen the new function yet ( can't get inworld till next week ) but any new feature to terraforming is allways welcome All we need now is some nice new "shaped" brush tools ... and one that can cut holes in the terrain to make real caves( yes it can be done ) Maybe in the future ?

That sounds cool I may upload it having really major issues though with 1.19.4 the last few weeks sort of afraid too. I really wish though they do something to resolve some of issues I have seen in last few months, maybe they have with new viewer?

OK, took a quick look:
What they have done is to add a relative visual indication of how much the terrain mesh will be changed, and where, as you use each of the tools, along with a "strength" control that allows you a small measure of control over how fast the changes are made. "Raise land" shows up arrows, "Lower land" shows down arrows, "Smooth" shows median bars... Each with a length that shows the relative effect on that point in the selected area that you will get when you click and/or hold the mouse down.
So when you use the "Raise land" tool with the strength maxxed, you see that the center of the area affected by the tool or land selection will go higher, faster, than the edges of that area. While at a low strength, it's pretty uniform across the selected area or selected tool size. This can be useful in some cases, certainly.
As far as I can tell, it does NOT change the terrain mesh resolution which means a given point on the mesh can only move up or down in 1M increments in a standard terraforming layout (possibly more or less than that if the last .raw file included a height multiplier factor other than 1.0).
I really wish they would create a tool that would show you the terrain mesh control points, and allow you to select individual points and move them up or down. That would be a godsend. I'll have to submit a feature request for that.
