My sister is here for a visit. Tried to set up a SL account for her and got the above message. Anyone by chance know why this happened and how it can be resolved? Went to SL.com and cannot find anthing about disabled accounts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you set up a new account on the same computer you use (alt) or on her computer/laptop?

Go to the site and be logged in with her name and contact support about it. Last time there was a thread about this I think we came to the conclusion it was the email address. Did you use a hotmail email?

Got these instructions from the "Support" page. I'm sorry that I can't help you more, this has never happened to me... :(

*edit: or maybe just try and set up another (3rd) account.

Why was my account put on hold?

* Someone may have phished or stolen your account.
* One or more of your transactions may involve fraudulent Linden dollars. You should be aware that there are other exchanges for L$ that are not affiliated with Linden Lab in any way. We have no control over these exchanges and are not responsible for their activities.
* Delinquent account or Terms of Service violations. Account delinquency or violations of the Terms of Service may also cause cause us to hold your account. To correct this, contact billing or support.

What are the next steps?

1. Log in to the Support Portal. (If you cannot log into your account, use our Guest Access Log In.)
2. Click the Submit a Ticket link.
3. In the Ticket Type Field, select Special Questions – Basic Account or Guest Login from the dropdown list.
4. Select My account has been shut off.
5. From Disabled Issues, select I do not know why my account has been shut off.
6. Fill in the rest of the fields as directed.
7. Copy the Tracking Number for your new ticket.
8. You'll receive an email containing your ticket information.

MSN=Hotmail, I think. For some reason, SL doesn't 'like' Hotmail. I used gmail (free) and it worked fine. :)

We used her msn e-mail address.

MSN = Hotmail, whether she has a free account or not.

Try having her create a gmail address, they seem to accept those.

Check the account page and make sure you do not have a negative balance.

We are not allowed to make accounts for other people or with false real life information upon registration. These are both reasons LL will disable an account and may or may not apply to your situation. You must go to the main http://www.secondlife.com site and log in to the support portal. You can sign in with the disabled account there, click the link with the avatar's name on it, and then click on the link to fill out a support ticket. You must use the *special* ticket since it is most likely a free account. Use the drop down menu to select 'my account has been shut off and I don't know why' or something along those lines. Fill out all required information including the valid email address where LL can reach you at which happens to be the email you used upon registration. You should receive a reply within 24 hours; prepare to answer questions about the account.

Ramona, I was setting up an alt and got that message because the validation process had stalled but I was still able to log on to Forums and the name had been registered. I raised aticket and had LL sort it within an hour. I suggest going on to help and going through the process to raise a ticket - worked for me/mine.
