For some reason, whenever I log in or TP somewhere, before I hit my HUD for my classy stand pose, I'm suddenly doing a range of dorky "model" poses that I wouldn't even take for free.

Is this happening to anyone else or are the lindens out to get me...and more importantly, how can I stop looking like a dork when I TP into blocked script places?

SIMS that have no script enabled can really be a pain in the ass.
I always use AO's and other scripts for moving particles on my outfit. In many places the owner has disabled scripts because of the abuse you can do with it.

your own avatar scripts simply come to a grinding halt every time you enter the SIM that has a block on scripts. It's annoying, but unavoidable. Unless you stop using scripts. :P

Isn't it the standard, non-scripted newbie pose? Because your scripted overrides won't work, SL will use the non-scripted newbie poses.

My AO will load in a SIM without a scripting block. Whenever I go to a non-scripted SIM AFTER that, the override/pose/ will freeze. but still work. I can only change it using the HUD, when I leave the SIM first.

It's highly annoying.

Fly up till about 50m AGL (if the land is at 20m you need to fly up to higher than 70m, etc), which is where the "no script" restriction cuts off.

And while the HUD might stop working, most AOs should just keep on cycling through the idle poses, as well as replacing your walk, etc .

Huh? I knew that about banlines, but since I had a friend come over to my skybox a few days back and he couldn't rezz and run scripts up high, I don't think the other parcel restrictions are height related.

I suspect this is what's going on here. There's another AO running somewhere (shoes?) that's pushing the undesirable anims onto the avatar while the HUD is defeated by no-script. So that's a misfeature of the HUD, IMHO. All it needs is for the scripts to llTakeControls() in a script-enabled area and stay attached.

As for the height thing: gee... dunno. I've successfully attached llTakeControls() scripts above the 50mAGL threshold and have it keep working on no-script parcels, but never really tested what happens to regular scripts just activated above that threshold. I guess I've always just assumed they worked. (Or... could this whole thing have changed?)

*nods* It's the same cut-off height.

It's just a whole lot more convenient to fly up 50m than it is to tp away and then back, just to turn a script on/off or make some change :).

I'm not sure what happened in your skybox but scripts do work normally 50m AGL even on script disabled land (or course if your skybox is less than 50m above the land they wouldn't work).

I used it just this weekend to load a different AO set, it's been that way for as long as I've been on SL at least.

Scripts don't actually keep working if you fly up and then back down though. In the case of the ZHAO (or the old one anyway) for instance: the actual AO script will keep running always (llTakeControls on the script), but the HUD will be frozen since other scripts handle that.

If you want to load a different set you fly up to 50m AGL to where the HUD works again, load the new notecard, wait for it to finish and then fly back down. Once you dip under the 50m AGL again the HUD will freeze again.
