Hi there
I've been browsing through forums and the support site of SL and haven't found any official document from linden labs about the parental guidance (PG) regions. Is there such document that clearly defines what is a PG region or is that just the term we use to define a region that is free of adult content?
Thanks a lot for you answer and if there is some kind of document available for public, thanks for indicating the link.
Cheers

someone else will come along with the TOS, but i can say that just using common sense..... anything you would not want your daughter to see, or your mother see YOU viewing, is not PG. reverse of what you asked, but still relevant.

The Community standards are here https://secure-web15.secondlife.com/corporate/cs.phpand from the knowledge base - From: knowledge base What is the difference between PG and Mature land?
Landowners can indicate their land to be either PG or Mature from the Region tab of the Region/Estate window, using the Maturity dropdown list.
The PG and Mature ratings mirror those used by many countries' movie and television industries to denote the age-appropriateness of behavior, language and creations within a given area of Second Life.
PG Areas are designated to be free from sexually explicit language or behavior, swearing and other forms of aggressive language, violent behavior and/or imagery, including horror. In Teen Second Life, "gambling" for Linden Dollars is also prohibited.
Children and young people up to age 17 are automatically restricted to Teen Second Life, a special PG area that separates them from the adult population of Second Life for their own protection.
Adults age 18 and over may seek an experience free of Mature content and so, we also offer PG areas within the adult regions of Second Life.
Mature areas are limited to the adult-accessible areas of Second Life only, and do allow adult language and behavior. So how do I know where to draw the line?
PG regions have frequently been described as an area where you're free to say and do things that you would feel comfortable doing in front of your grandmother, or a grade school class.
In Mature regions, Residents can be free to engage in more adult activity and language, though of course, explicit adult content must be contained behind "closed doors".
However, if you feel there's some ambiguity as to whether or not your activity or content is allowed in a PG region, it's likely best kept to a Mature region.

From: Nuno McCullough Correct me if I'm wrong but to create an account we shouldn't have more than 18 yo? You have to be over 18 for the main grid, true. But some people don't ever want to have to see any content that involves sex. And thus PG areas. Basically.

PG areas were the places without sexual content, blatent nudity, casinos and the like. Usually this is where the nicer builds also were.
However the Main Grid *is* over 18. Children simply have no place here - PG is no guarantee of safety and not seeing something you might not want to - the WAs are a prime example of that.
Basically if kids are old enough for the TG then fine, TG for them. Otherwise, this is an adult world and should stay that way. Might not be a popular view but it is my view that the entire responsibility should be with parents.
Not so likely since that German TV crew ...

From: Logic Merlin hi
thanks a lot for that quick answer. so i conclud that the community standards and the excerpt from the knowledge base concerning the difference between PG and mature region make the official statement. there is probably a blog post or two on the subject I suppose. But yes they have been very hesitant traditionally to describe how nude equals nude and how sexual equals sexually graphic. Robin claimed something to the effect that if they make a definite boundary then people will push the letter of the rule and their hands will be tied. So dont expect a beach city council style rule like - "bikini bottoms must be opaque and cover the buttocks, while the tops must be at least 3 inches in diameter and obscure the nipples."
