Each time I put my boat in the water, it sends me messages periodically giving me it's location. Because of this, I've kept it out of the water, having tired of repetitive emails from the darn thing daily about it's beacon. I pulled the boat from the water ages ago because of this since I haven't been using that particular house much lately. And promptly forgot about it. I put it back in the water last night, because I have our (Rioko, Allie, Damien & I) Rez Day Party on Thursday evening (put it in your calendars!!!) and thought it would be nice to have it available to use for guests. Sure enough, I'm getting these messages again. Any idea how to shut this off?

Send a friendly IM to the creator of your boat. (Not neccesarily who you bought it from). Explain the situation to them, and ask them if there's any way for you to turn off these messages. Assuming the boat creator authored the script, they are likely to be the best person to help you with this. If that fails... another option might be for you to simply mute your boat. If you dont need to hear messages from it at all, that might be the next best thing. Good luck!

I don't remember if you ever told me, what are the messages you're getting, exactly?

This might be the best case for muting I ever had But, good idea about getting in touch with the creator. I think I'll do that when I get home tonight. BTW, every time I see your dog avi, it makes me smile. I love Family Guy

From: Ghosty Kips Still with the boat, El? I don't remember if you ever told me, what are the messages you're getting, exactly? Yes, I am You're so busy I hate to bother you with these mundane stupid things. This is the message I get. Several times a day usually: "The object 'SW-100 v3.0' has sent you a message from Second Life: Locator beacon: Your SW-100 is located at Zellig(85,219) at an altitude of 20 meters."

Mute the object by name.
Then, if you ever lose the boat, in a crash or a sim crossing, unMute it, and it will tell you where to come and find it.

It's called the Beacon option...how to disable it is explained in the instruction card for the boat....I believe you can do it from the menu when you click on the boat itself. RTFM, people.

From: Wicked Picket RTFM, people. Thanks, but ummm, no need to get snippy. It never used to do this in my old land. I had the boat for months and it only started doing it when I rezzed it at my new place.

Sounds like.... you did not have autoreturn on, disabled scripts at the old place for anyone not in the group, the boat was rezzed and set to a different group, and now at the new place, the boat's group matches the land group and now it can run scripts all it likes. My first guess as to why it would start piping up now.

I do remember on my old land, not understanding the ins and outs of land ownership as well as I currently do. This is a very likely scenario.

My boat does this too.. I don't remember who made it, but on mine it's in a touch menu somewhere.. if you're near the boat I'd def. try clicking through the setup menus if they're there.. should be an option to turn it off completely or set its interval.

Likely the setting got lost when you re-rezzed it, and just needs to be reset via the menu.

Or, what got rezzed was an older copy of the boat. Either way ...
