My Avatar has no clothes...

I received a very cool skin from someone very cool...but I want to take it off and it won't come off. I can't get any clothes on my poor naked elf and I can't delete the very cool skin because I'm wearing it. It won't come off even though I've hit the remove...edit...take off...I've hit every flippin' button/code that I could think of. I've tried everything and I'm near tears. I don't want to be a naked elf anymore. Do I have to delete and start over? If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

You can't remove body parts - skin, shape, eyes, system hair - you have to replace them with something else. There's no reason a skin should prevent you from putting on clothes, though.

as Ann said, you have to replace the skin with another skin. if you had no skin you'd be invisible.

also, as Ann said, just wear any clothes. they are completely different attachments. go in to your Library folder (way down at the bottom) and just put on any set of skins clothes from any of the folders in there. then you'll at least be dressed while you scan your inventory for something you actually WANT to wear.

that thing with the Library and clicking on some clothes...all it did was say loading shirt/shoes whatever, then appear on my inventory list as worn (as in supposedly my naked elf had clothes on which she didn't). I then tried taking off the clothes she was (not) wearing and creating new clothes, which never showed up on her either. The create shirt/shoes whatever opened but no boxes came up for me to create/edit. So she's still naked.

OK, but that doesn't have anything to do with the skin...the items you choose to wear just aren't downloading to your viewer correctly. Try clicking Ctrl-Alt-r to rebake the clothing textures. If that doesn't work, relogging to an empty sim may help things download more quickly.

Also, try clearing cache if that doesn't help.

lol, clear cache for any issue you may have! It's such a perpetual response, sometimes I forget to mention it!

Oh dear, that would be the level 15 eternal elf skin spell, you need to find a 2nd edition Level 20 magic user to cast a "stoneskin", "stone to flesh" then "dispel magic" and "permancy"
Or just do the above suggestions, if you don't want to roleplay it

I found I have a bad habit in roleplay sims of finding the neighborhood bar and hanging out.

Some habits die hard.

LOL, you must have completed the epic "Logon" and "TP to where you want to go" quests or you wouldn't still be here, you've probably also done the "cross a sim boundry at full speed" and "evade the rolling restart monster". You must be over level 12 if you been here over 12 months, you level every month

To get back to the poor OP (although if anyone wants to tell me where the hidden skill cave is, I've mined a lot of gold and can pay well...) have you tried changing the skin itself?

It seems very unlikely the skin is the cause of the clothing-not-appearing problem, but if it's an SL glitch that's causing the clothing to not show then it should also show the skin not changing too if you try to wear another skin. Given that this skin is a 'naked elf' skin (and I really have NO idea if it's possible for a skin to cause clothing not to show or not; I very much doubt it) then you're *supposed* to be naked when you're wearing it

Open up the library folder and look into some of the female avatars there. Try wearing the skin for Girl Next Door. If you see that skin appearing, try wearing the clothing too. If the skin *doesn't* appear then it's an SL glitch.

Do you have any other skins you've picked up elsewhere? I don't know if it's possible to have a corrupt inventory where any content in the library is borked, but I guess it's best to look at all options. If you've got any resident-created skins (try The Free Dove and The Gnubie Store - free skins there, or send me IM inworld, as I think I have a couple I could send to you) then try wearing those.

If you *still* see nothing with resident-created skin and clothes (and try to ask someone else if they can see them, in case it's an issue with your viewer/connection/whatever; everybody else might be seeing you just fine), and you've cleared your cache and done everything else suggested here, then it's time to raise a support ticket.

To one and all that helped me with my little problem. With all of your combined help I did finally get some clothes on her (though she seems to have lost her nips, to me a bother but she doesn't seem to mind...I'm still going to find a way for her to get them back. something just doesn't look right if you know what I mean.) Anyway thanks again for helping...it means a lot knowing that there is a support group like this. You've all been great.

Some of the default skins are, erm, less than detailed...you'll need to be brave and change skins again to get her nipples back.

LOL - I just began playing EQ a bit again for fun and your post sounds sooo much like some of the quests I've had to do. *grins*

Actually it was more based on Dungeons & Dragons
