Hi All

I had a message from one of my tenants asking why he was paying group liabilities. I checked the roles, and the box for Group Accounting/Pay Liabilities, etc, is not ticked for his Resident's role, only for the owner role (me and my alt). Has this happened to anyone else this week, ie, SL glitch?? It's a new group, maybe it's not caught up with itself yet?

Thanks.

I got charged L$1 for being in the Stillman Bazaar group..... thought it odd but didn't think it worth making a fuss.

By default, the "Pay Liabilities" role is checked in the "Everyone" role, and applies to all group members. All group members are included in that role, and you can't eliminate or rename that role.

If you don't explicitly un-check it there, then everyone in the group pays a share of liabilities (mostly parcel Places ad charges), AND they share in Group profits, which means if you sold group owned land, the sale price is split EVENLY to all group members!

It's usually a good idea to strip the Everyone role fo ALL permissions other than the ability to recieve group notices and other permissions that you are *certain* you always want 100% of the group members to have. Several of the default values are VERY undesirable for a land-owning group.

Note to self - make sure to uncheck pay liability box in group. I hate that! It's wrong!
I noticed this morning that a group that has been hitting me for $1L for the past few months I've been in it, has hit me for $2L today.

Oh I don't wanna quit you! But I must. It's a tacky thing this group liability.

I did check, very carefully, when I set it up, and the Pay Liabilities box is definitely unchecked. Guess it is just an SL glitch.

I did smile earlier in the week though, when my newest tenant asked me if I could deed my super-expensive 4096 corner-sim protected beach plot to his group, as it would save him the trouble of having to change group tags all the time. Um, sorry, don't think so!
