Money for Nothing....

...or something like that.

I posted in another thread that I recently changed my payment method on file. I then purchased some lindens on the Lindex to see if I was still being charged the foreign transaction fee as I was from previous payment method.

I received my lindens and the transaction showed as pending on my bank statement plus a $1.00 charge, also pending. Someone responded that the $1.00 was a normal "ping" for a new card to make sure it was working.

After a number of days, the linden purchase and $1.00 charge fell off the statement with no money being deducted from my account. I called the bank to check on that and was told the transaction did not show up from their side, meaning the merchant (SL) had not yet charged the bank/account.

Update....several days later I used this same payment method to purchase a premium account and purchase more lindens. These two transactions are still showing as pending.

Thus far, I have purchased lindens twice and acquired a premium account and not been charged anything.

I just called Live Chat, but their system is down now, so it could not be checked from the SL side at present.

Which brings me to the forums. Anyone have transactions that were made, even dropped off their bank statements, and they finally went through?

And czari, yes, it occures with my linden based and many of my online based transactions quite often. Don't spend it. They will, take the money. Hope this helps.

It hasn't happened for a while, but in December 2006 LL never ended up charging me for any L$ I bought.

It was fun trying to get billing to understand the problem: they'd consistently answer it as if I'd reported not being able to buy L$ as opposed to getting them but not paying for them.

After 2-3 weeks all the charges went through all at once, so watch out for that if you budget or if you're close to your card limit.

That was my concern - if the transactions ever *did* come out and then all at once. I'm the honest type who wanted to make sure anything I purchased was indeed paid for, but want to keep enough funds in the account to cover it if it does get debited at once.

Really appreciate the replies and knowing it has happened to others.
