I’m not a fan of ‘Voice’ for all sorts of reasons, but recently I was encouraged to enable it and listen in to a discussion. Disaster, everything that anyone said was echoed two seconds later, it was absolutely impossible. Anyone able to explain ?

Are you using speakers rather than headphones? If so, have you got talk latched on? If so .. are you following my thoughts?
Going afk just now but help will be near I'm sure :)

Hmmm.

There are a few reasons why this might occur.

If you transmit something, and the recipient isn't using a headset, and they are transmitting at the same time they are receiving, this could bounce back to you.

Other than that reason--it may be sound drivers. A crappy sound card. Messed up settings.

The key to smooth voice chat is to a) use a headset, b) use a decent mic, c) use 'push to talk' instead of toggle, d) don't use mic boost unless absolutely necessary, e) have the latest or most stable sound driver for your rig.

If those are all in place...voice should work swimmingly. Unless you have a hardware config that just isn't compatible to SL code.
