Hi everyone! I don't know if I am in the right section but if I am not, could a moderator please transfer my post in the right section?
Ok, so here is my question:
Is there a way for two objects to communicate via LSL script over great distances (meaning from region to region)?
Thank you very much!!!

You need to be here: /54/1.htmlDon't hold your breathe waiting for someone to transfer the post, though. I don't believe there is a way of doing this in LSL. AFAIK, the only way to communicate between sims is by IM, and objects cannot receive IMs. llRegionSay covers an entire region, and can use channels like llSay. Getting beyond my knowledge now, but it might be possible to do this with email.

It's possible by having the objects send emails to one another, but it's pretty time consuming (read: not instant), has a limit to the amount of messages that can be sent every minute, and messages between the two scripts may often drop.

If you've some hardware outside of SL you can leverage, you might take a look at: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LSL_http_server/exampleswhich is supposed to be an improvement over the existing email or XMLRPC methods: http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llEmailhttp://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=xmlrpcOtherwise, you might drop by one of the NCI campus and check their schedule - they hold free classes on object-object communication. (and yes, technically your question should have gone into the scripting forum ) Good luck!
