I use the RC viewer, which means I have to download a new version every week and a half or so.

Stop me if I'm wrong, but didn't it USED to work that when you right-click-Edit an object that doesn't belong to you, you could still see a few things on the General tab like the object's owner, creator, how many prims, etc? I could've sworn it used to be that way. Now, absolutely everything is greyed-out. What gives?

Do you have "select my objects only" checked off?(under tools menu)

Another time this was queried one response was to check whether you had Preferences/Tools set to 'Select Only My Objects'.

As said above, Select Only My Stuff is the usual suspect for when this happens.

I think the sim has to ask the asset server for some of these details so if the sim (or the grid) is hurting, you'll also see blanks..
