How do I get a url for my land? I have found some radio stations and tried to put the url in but it wont work. I'm sure i'm doing something wrong but dunno what

It may be that the radio station is streaming in a non-sl-compatible format. I'd love to have BBC radio 4 on my land but they stream through a realplayer thingy and it won't work.

Yeah...that's not actually a music URL. Stream URLs are more along the lines of http://193.239.120.188:8016 and whatnot. Gimme a few minutes and I'll see if I can get Big R's stream URL for you.

Nope. No dice. It's a stream called 80s Lite on 202.fm.....but I'm having no luck getting the actual stream URL for you. I do have a different 80's station you might like though.

Thanks for this info! Now I have some dumb newbie questions:
I found a station I like and it opened iTunes and started playing there. From iTunes I got this URL: http://scfire-chi-aa02.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1018 Is that something that could be streamed into SL? - because it doesn't look like the URL used above as an example. How would I get it converted into numbers? Where can I go to learn more about streaming music generally? Can you stream Pandora into SL? TIA |

to get a usable shoucast url, open the stream in winamp, then (in the playlist editor) right click the stream and select 'view file info'. there you will find a usable stream url.

Lunette: short answer is yes. If Itunes will play it, generally speaking SL will too. Plus, that looks like a lot of the URLs in the music player on my alt's land.
