Return of the memory leak?

Is it just me or has the memory leak returned in the new client? I was watching it in Task Manager for a while to see if the occasional freezing I was getting was related to SLVoice taking all the CPU like someone mentioned elsewhere, and while that didn't happen, I watched my memory gradually grow to over 1.4GB of memory in use before crashing, just like pre-17.1

Is anyone else seeing it?

Yes since the new update we have experienced the same thing and have been monitoring it everytime we login to to SL, seems a regular thing now, must be a new feature ;)

Peace

It maybe true that memory leaks are still there in whatever quantity, but it will potentially effect some, more than others. Personally I only get lockups when I am making movies for a continously long time (say 2-3 hours), but this is mainly because I switch in and out of the client to check the footage captured. Normally I don't get the same horrendous problems suffered by many here on the forums.

Some of the stuttering experienced in game, can be attributed to the voice function polling the voice servers, which seems to be a bit hit and miss at best. Anything which de-focuses the client, including any form of media, texture swapping, rotating prims, even badly aligned prims/textures, can cause a stuttering effect to the fluidity of the game. I have been to some horrendous sims that have such badly built buildings, they actually cause a series of '10mtr thresholds', and juddering as you rotate your avatar/view. The use of 1024x1024 size textures on a door knob is also bad practice, yet many still do this.

You may try shrinking down the client window for a few seconds every now and again, sometimes this resets the memory registers and reduces leaks.
